This is one on a 737NG and we dont have sliding shades just the clip on green coloured things off the bar at the top of the window, the reason he asked is that off the 200 odd 737s in the fleet this one was the only one both himself and I had come across. I know the pic is on rotated wrong but it is on the the FO side lookign out to the right

Well, YOUR NG's might not have them, but MINE certainly do. So I suspect the clip is standard equipment for the window frame trim, whether your aircraft end up built with or without shades.

Incidentally, if a captain asked ME what it was for, I'd probably turn around and disembark from that particular flight; no telling what else he isn't familiar with. Power levers? Where? Fire handles? Never noticed those down there before!
