Are The KC-390 Wings Large Enough?

Seeing that the KC-390 is supposed to replace old and compete with new C-130s, I wounder, are the KC-390 wing large enough to do the job that a C-130 could? A C-130 wing has a span of around 132 ft, where a KC-390 wing span, is around 118 ft, that a big difference.

The C-130 was designed in the early fifties and first flew 57 years ago. In the intervening time, aerodynamics have come a very long way. So I'm sure the wing will do.

The KC-390 will sacrifice a bit of field performance when fully loaded.
The C130 is weak in power, a general problem for props.
The KC-390 will solve small wing area with thrust, a strategy Embraer also embraced for the E-Series.

But correct: the KC-390 is a bit off the usual specifications of a military transport. I guess that Embraer realized that only a very small number of operators use their transports into truly short fields with max payload.

Is the original question in regards to wing area or enough spacing to fuel two aircraft at one time like on the C-130?

Maybe it's more appropriate to say that the C-130 is just not optimized for the higher sub-sonic speeds like the KC-390, power is not in short supply on a C-130, but the MMO is.

As a reference, google tells me a C-130 has wing loading of 88lb/sq ft, but a 737 classic(similar size to KC-390??) has wing loading of 101lb/sq ft.
Faster airplanes can get away with higher wing loading, thus smaller wings. The trade off will be that C-130 will still kick KC-390's ass when it comes to STOL, but it'll be left behind on longer routes.

Maybe, maybe not. One of the thing the C-130 sorely lacks are high lift devices on the wings. It has simple flaps and no slats. If the KC-390 incorporates slats and, say, slotted flaps (with drooping ailerons) a LOT of the STOL advantage of the C-130 will get eaten up.

One could argue the wing of the C-130 IS the high-lift device, but with its (relatively) fixed shape, it's also the reason for its slow cruise speed.

The C-130 is quite fitted out for short field relative to its size.. And is 300KTAS not sufficient for what it was designed to do?

It's a Tactical Airlifter, not Strategic, so a 450Kts GS is not what is needed. That you use a C-5 or equivalent.
