A340-300 And A340-600 Cargo Config

Fri Aug 12, 2011 2:06 pm

Hi,
I need to know what the maximum number of PAG or PMC's the A340 -300 and the 600 can carry. I appreciate that it depends on many factors but lets consider everything is perfect range payload wx etc Would also like to know what mixes of configs they can carry. Any help on this would be appreciated...

Thanks

Hi!!!!
I will try to keep it as simple as possible. I can only speak for LH operated flights, as some others may have different configurations.

A340-300
fwd hold-- 6 x 88" or 6 x 96" or a combination of 3 x 88"+3 x 96" pallets.
aft hold-- 5 x 88" or 4 x 96" or a combination of 2 x 88"+3 x 96" pallets. (if a mobile crew rest unit is installed on position
31P--the max in the aft hold is reduced to 2 x 88"+2 x 96" pallets.
A340-600
fwd hold-- 8 x 88" or 8 x 96" or 4 x 88"+4 x 96" pallets.
aft hold-- 2 x 88" or 2 x 96" or 1 x 88"+1 x 96"pallets. (if the crew rest unit is installed, maximum of 1 pallet can be loaded.)

***of course if you go on to use normal LD-3 containers in conjuction with pallets.....well I don´t think this thread is long enough to give all the combinations.

Hope this help you!!! N-joy your day!!

Why does the 346 hold HALF that cargo in the aft pit of the 343??
That doesn't make sense to me...

The A340-300 has 18 LD3 positions in the forward bay and 14 in the aft, for a total of 32.

The A340-600 has 24 LD3 positions in the forward bay and 18 in the aft, for a total of 42.

Airbus' ACAP for the A340-300 states you can fit 6 86x125" pallets forward and 4 aft.

Airbus' ACAP for the A340-600 states you can fit 8 86x125" pallets forward and 6 aft.

LH installed lavatories down there for the Y class passengers with a staircase leading to them from the main deck.

Indeed, sounds like chootie took the LH configuration and used that for general information. To my knowledge, very few airlines have chosen the down-stair lavatory arrangement, which means the LH config. does not present an accurate picture of what the average A430-600 looks like.

The Airbus ACAP is always good for average data.
From receips and radials over straight pipes to big fans - been there, done that, got the hearing defects to prove

Pretty obvious it was not intended to be just general information.
