Retrofitting Signature Interior PSUs On Older 767s

Tue Nov 22, 2011 7:42 pm

I was wondering, while it is possible to retrofit 767s with the Signature Interior bins and ceiling panels, I was wondering, is it possible to also retrofit them with the Signature Interior PSUs?

It seems that all Signature Interior retrofits I have seen retain their original PSUs, or have a modernized form of the original 767 PSUs. AA's 767s that were retrofitted up front still have their original PSUs. On DL's 763ER mods, DL has been installing aftermarket PSUs that are dimensionally the same as the original 767 PSUs, except they have circular LED reading lights with a white surrounding, rather than the square incandescent reading lights with a black surrounding. DL has also installed a more rounded faceplate for the PSUs.

So, is it possible to retrofit Signature Interior PSUs onto older 767s? One difference with the Signature Interior PSUs is that they are divided into sub-components, while the original 767 PSUs have all components in a single unit. Could this be something that prevents airlines from installing Signature Interior PSUs on existing 767s?

That is just a faceplate for the existing PSUs, not completely new PSUs. DL is also installing the Heath Tecna NuLook Interior (the Pivot Bin version) on their 763ERs, and DL installed the same faceplate as the one shown in your photo. However, the PSUs were changed to an aftermarket model with circular LED reading lights with white surroundings, and light gray air nozzles. However, the PSUs are designed to use the same cutouts as the original 767 PSUs.
