When Do Airlines Publish Seasonal Schedules?

Sat Dec 03, 2011 4:24 pm

Hi all,

Like the topic said, I like to know when most airlines publish their seasonal schedules. I ask this because I am looking for flights to Asia in Autumn next year, and have the feeling not all airlines are showing up when i look for fares.

The oneworld on-line timtable says on its front page that it is valid from 28 Noivember 2011 to 29 October 2012. But I am quite sure that that does not mean that there will be no changes to the Summer 2012 schedules before the end of March.

Ok, so maybe the schedules are there, but the fares are not loaded? Just the standard fares only? BUD-BKK should go for about 400 euro, but is now around 700, with QR and MS for 550.

Thats revenue management for you. Fares are adjusted continously, both ways (up and down). If high demand is predicted on your dates, might as well never get under 700, OTOH if the situation is right, might still go way down under 400.

Schedules are finalized about 2-3 months out. At 6 months out, the schedule is not finalized and in many cases is impossible to actually be operated. It's a preliminary schedule form revenue management and capacity, but the actual route planners haven't finalized it yet.

Every airline is different however (and it is not based on alliances) Some post schedules 10 or 11 months out, while other airlines don't publish until 6 months out.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!
