APS - History Of The Term

Anyone aware the definition & history of the term "APS" ie Aircraft prepared for service.would serviceable Aircraft ready to fly be appropriate OR Aircraft set for servicing be more accurate.
I may not win often, but I damn well never lose!!! ;)

I remember I saw this being used for the "build up" of the DOW, ie.
a/c + crew + manuals+ hydraulic fluids+...............

This was issued by engineering after weighing/re-weighing of an a/c

My understanding is This term seems to suggest that the Aircraft can fly if normal works for departure are attended.
I may not win often, but I damn well never lose!!! ;)
