Question About An Airport Machine

Tue May 15, 2012 10:59 am

Hey,

I was just on Youtube watching some flight crew videos, and i came across this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPX_J38MT3U&feature=g-vrec

This Machine comes out and sprays the plane with something, i have never seen this before, ever, just wondering if anyone knew what is it was, the Machine shows up between 2:45 and 3:00 minutes into the video.

Thanks.

Quoting Juced (Thread starter):

It is a machine used for anti- and de-icing the airplane. You shouldn't take off with the wings full of snow or ice. So this is a fluid being sprayed on the wings, stabilizer and maybe fuselage to get rid of the contamination.

It's a de-icing truck which is spraying is type-1 de-icing fluid on the aircraft to remove snow/frost/ice contaminants.

Looks like wilco737 beat me to it, cheers.

This is a "Elephant Beta" from Vestergaard.

Takes some time to coordinate your hands on the controls, but then it is fun!
