A380 IFE Moving Map?

Thu May 31, 2012 3:16 pm

Hi - On this video below, I was wondering if the IFE moving map uses the Mapping system or layout from Google Maps or Google Earth. The map part feature in the video starts at 1:55.

To generic to say, in my opinion.
one mile of road leads to nowhere, one mile of runway leads to anywhere

It depends on the system. If it is a Rockwell Collins or Thales system, it will generally use Rockwell Collins' Airshow, although since last year Thales has introduced a new moving map in a partnership with GeoFusion. Panasonic uses its own moving map known as iXplor. Google Maps is used by LiveTV.

In the AF example, I presume it is powered by Airshow (using Thales' inROUTE GUI).
Yes, I wear Fairy Tale Pink IZOD shirts. I am a real man.
