BR715 Engine Noises

Thu Jun 07, 2012 7:06 am

Hello, I am not sure if this belongs in tech-ops, as I am not even sure if I am asking a technical question.

I have flown on several different types of aircraft; Boeing 737, 747, 757, 767, Airbus A319, A320, Saab 340, Merlin IV-C, Douglas DC-9, MD-80, MD-90, MD-95, CRJ-200, CRJ-700, ERJ-135, ERJ-145, EMB-170, you get the picture. Anywho, I have always noticed that the BR715 on the MD-95 has a very distinct sound in its own class. I have no idea if this has anything to do with the insulation (that is why I am asking knowledgeable folks such as yourselves), or if it has to do with the core of the engine (the way it was built)(ok, maybe this is a technical question, and if so, will the mods please move this to where it belongs?)

I wish I could be more specific, but I just don't know what else to say. Am I crazy, or is the BR715 in a class all by itself with it's sounds?

Thanks much in advance, and I hope I get some good answers.
