Good Avionics Learning Book?

Mon Jun 18, 2012 8:50 pm

Can anybody recommend a good avionics literature? I am looking for something explaining the purpose and principle of operation of the common systems on board of an aircraft and their typical interconnection, wiring, protocols, etc.
Mainly emphasizing on wiring diagrams, interconnection... basically giving a good and rather deep overview over the entire electrical system of a typical say Airbus or Boeing...

Find a Wire Diagram Manual ("WDM")...it will tell you everything you could possible want to know.

You may be interested in buying 2 books that may meet your needs. The first one is Aircraft Electrical Systems 3rd Edition by EHJ Pallett published by Pearson/Prentice Hall. The second is Aircraft Electrical and Electronic Systems - Principles Maintenance & Electronic Systems by Mike Tooley and David Wyatt published by BH.

I have always liked a book called "Avionics Fundamentals" by Jeppesen and United Airlines. Isbn 9780884874324.

It will not give you the wiring diagrams for any aircraft, it does however give a good overview of all systems installed and how the work.
