Old 3 Luggage?s Airlines Ask You During Check-In

Sun Jul 15, 2012 6:02 pm

Let me take you back to early 1990s.

Any of you remember when airlines were required to ask you about your luggages at time of check-in? Every check-in, airlines asked me 3 same questions. I don't remember the questions but they were like: Have you left your luggage unattended? or Have you let someone pack for you?

Does anyone remember those luggage questions? I want to know why those questions were imposed and when those questions were ceased.

I do get asked from time to time by the security staff, maybe a few times a year.

yes, that one. Thank you. I recall reading those pre-printed luggage questions on laminated paper ticket counter agents had to show me. No, no, no is always my answer. Over and over. I think curbside (skycap) luggage check-in were temporarily suspended.

All that because of Gulf War security concerns?

Did you pack your bag yourself?
Are you carrying anything for other people?
Have your bag been in your control at all times?

Still remember them by heart  At my airline we stopped asking them about 2 years ago.

For a while, I remember them asking "Did anyone put anything in your luggage without your knowledge?" I always wanted to respond "How would I know?" but I didn't want to be subjected to the anal probing that would probably follow...

When I traveled with my family on AA in february they did all those questions to all of us, and asked us to keep away when one was answering. Extremely unnecessary if you ask me...

I have had that same temptation... I mean seriously.

Delta Airlines Security in FRA asked me those questions twice last month!
