What 737 Does UA Use On EWR-LAX?

Wed Jul 25, 2012 7:52 am

Will be flying from EWR to LAX with UA next month and wondering what equipment they will be using. FlightAware shows a mix between 735, 738 and 739. As I cannot see what version of the 738 and the 739 they are using, I was wondering where I can look up historical registration data. AFAIK I cannot see this in Flightaware. Or can I?
Future flights: CPH-BOS; CPH-SVG; CPH-PVG-HKG-MNL-DVO; CPH-CDG; CPH-NRT; CPH-MIA; CPH-PVG

Flightaware from time to time has incorrect aircraft types, your best bet is to look at the United website for the day of travel and see what you find for the aircraft shown at this time.

I agree - the UA website is usually reliable when it comes to the a/c type.

I doubt the 737-500 is accurate! It appears to be 738s and 739s on EWR-LAX depending on the flight: the seat map for your flight is usually the definitive way to verify the planned a/c type.

For historical information, you can check the flight status page at UA.com and plug in your flight number (assuming it's currently in use operating the same service) to check what's currently flying that service, +/- a day or two: one of the best features is that it displays the tail number so you can verify the actual ship used/planned.

The 737-500 doesn't have the range to do this without a tech stop or an extremely limited load

For UA, flightaware typically shows all flights as being operated by 735s until actual departure time and then it switches. It is an easy mistake.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

Have you checked your reservation? United isn't cryptic about what aircraft you're booked on... it's plainly listed in your reservation....

You will never be on a 735 from EWR-LAX. It's impossible for the aircraft to make it.

9 times out of 10 it will be a 738 or a high number 739. Once a while, you may get the random 752 but not likley
