Which is the smoothest a/c during turbulence?
Thanks

I think you'll struggle to find a definitive answer to that as all aircraft handle turbulence in different ways for one. Secondly one airplane flying through turbulence may experience it to a greater or lesser extent then the previous or next aircraft.

All manufacturers will claim smoothness but its down to whatever happens on the day

The bigger the better. Also, it depends where you are sitting. As close to the wings a possible is the best.

Any plane with active gust alleviation.

Has much more to do with wing loading than aircraft size. A lightly loaded wing will, by definition, "flap" around more than a highly loaded one. One of the best turbulence penetrators is the DC-9, particularly the shorter winged versions.

I love a bit of turbulence, but not heavy and for a long time. I have always felt more comfortable on a 747 than anything else in that situation, but that could be psycological. Or it does support bigger is better. Conversely, I find it more frightening on a RJ.

Once on a 777 I went to the lav, in calm air, however on the way back to my seat we were suddenly hit with a bang of turbulence and I was knocked to the floor. Oddly, it didn't scare me.

A heavy aircraft with high wing loading.

I would say the A380, just from what I've heard. I bet the 747-8 is close though.

I just love riding on the 757 in turbulance.

However, the sickness you get towards the back on a 753 is very noticeable. Lots of side to side movement even in relatively "still" air.

No. The A380-800 wing is designed for the higher weights of the -900 stretch (which has yet to see the light of day, sadly). So, the wing isn't nearly as highly-loaded as it was designed to be.
Therefore, the A388 is NOT as smooth as it could be.
Conversely, the 747-8 is more airplane on a similar wing to the 744. They did make some changes, but the surface area, if I'm not mistaken, isn't hugely different at all. Therefore, the 748 will likely handle turbulence more comfortable than the 744.
