Caravelle Cockpit Parts Wanted

Mon Dec 24, 2012 1:17 pm

Hello,

we are restoring an ex Air France Caravelle III cockpit and convert it into a fixed base simulator.
Albeit complete the cockpit suffers from extensive corrosion making it impossible to remove certain parts without destroying them. We need the panel integral lights which have been used on the Comet, BAC 1-11 and many american made airplanes. Does anyone know where to get spares and if they are still manufactured?
Here is a link with an image showing in detail what is needed:

You can follow the progress of the restoration on www.sudaviation.com/project

Best regards

These bulbs look like standard ones we use in Saab 340 overhead lights. I can ask our technicians about manufacturer.
I seriously think I just creamed my pants without any influence from any outside variables.

Those look like 387 lamps. Very common in aviation. There should be a number stamped in the base of the bulb.

The corroded light sockets will be more difficult to find/repair.

Hi,
thanks for your replies. Actually it's the socket we are looking for. The bulbs are std aviation bulbs which are easy to get on ebay etc.
If you look at a B52 panel you can find very similar lights screwed into the panel:

WEMAG in Idlewood, California used to manufacture them but they don't answer my requests.

Any other ideas?

Cheers

I think your best bet would be to find a company that overhauls military panels. I have seen those sockets before, I just don't recall if they were on DC-9s or 727s.

Gables Engineering used to make a lot of older DC-9 panels, maybe send them an e-Mail?
