CWY Vs. RESA, Toda And Tora

Dear members,

I have a question about the explanation and relationships of the following airport runway terms:

CWY: Clearway is an area beyond the paved runway, free of obstructions and under the control of the airport authorities. The length of the clearway may be included in the length of the Take-Off Distance Available (TODA)

TODA: The length of the takeoff run available plus the length of the CWY (if clearway is provided)

TORA: The length of runway declared available and suitable for the ground run of an airplane taking off

RESA: RESA is the cleared, smoothed and graded area around the paved runway. It is kept free from any obstacles that might impede flight or ground roll of aircraft.

Now I understand the definitions somewhat but what is the difference between a CWY and a RESA (they both are areas that are (or need to be) free of any obstacles(?)

What is the relationship between these terms?

Any insight or explanation on this would be very much appreciated.

They have to be clear for different reasons. RESA is clear to ensure that planes don't hit anything if they undershoot, and also while turning at the runway end. A Clearway is provided so that the an airplane has a chance to climb without hitting anything (and thus is included into runway distance calculations for performance.)
