A380 LH 3-4-3 = 17 Inches SQ 3-4-3 = 19inches

Tue Apr 09, 2013 6:22 pm

On Seat Guru, The Lufthansa A380 with a 3-4-3 layout says it's got a width of 17 inches, Singapore Airlines with the same 3-4-3 layout says it has 19 inches. Wouldn't LH have put an extra row of seats in for it to be 17 inches? Why not copy Singapore? do you think it's a mistake?

Are you talking about seat WIDTH or seat PITCH? If it is the width, then only the aisles are narrower on the SQ 380.

Hi, Yes the width, I had a look at the SQ's Aisle too but that looks the same as Lufthansa. Either way I can't wait to travel with LH as it will be my first time and first time to frankfurt   And they were the cheapest costing flight so I can't complain

Ok, no clue why the difference. Maybe they are closer to the fuselage than the other... I don't know.

Good choice. Enjoy your flight.

I found Seatguru to be rather unreliable on seat features. Also their good seat / bad seat indications are hit and miss. I mailed them a correction once, but they never implemented it.

In other words, unless you have another source for these seat widths, there's probably no need to give it another thought.

Perhaps the airlines measure their seat width differently? The SQ page might be quoting the cushion width, while the LH page is using the space between armrests?

But it's more likely to probably just be one of Seatguru's many inaccuracies. I would always be looking for a second source before accepting anything on Seatguru as fact.

Yes, I tried to find other sources even on the LH website but nothing. It'll be ok though

Don't rely on Seatguru and similar sites for that type of data. They only publish what the carrier provides, and airlines measure seat width differently. Some include the armrests, some don't. some include the gap between the seat cushions and others don't. When the aircraft has the same number of seats abreast theres's rarely a noticeable difference in seat width regardless of the published dimensions.

Agreed, I have had the same experience. Example: China Eastern A340 business class has recliner seats (old style) not lie-flat: I have flown 4 times including last week: Seatguru did not implement the correction I mailed them last year. Don't rely on their data for seat features. Seat plan however, I have found to be accurate.
My views are not necessarily the views of the GE Company

Enjoy. I haven't flown with LH in a while but the crew were fantastic.

Flew LHR-FRA-GVA & return one winter for a skiing trip.

On the return trip, the crew held the A321 at FRA as our 733 out of GVA was delayed. Brilliant indeed. Also I was lucky enough to fly on the A306 on the LHR-FRA leg which was great.
