Air Canada 747-400 Routes

Sun Apr 28, 2013 1:24 am

Hi guys,

Does anyone have somewhat of a list of the flights/routes that Air Canada used to use their 747-400's on? Just wanted it for reference.

Thanks,

Chris

A few I can think of off the top of my head,
YYZ-LHR
YYZ-YVR
YVR-HKG
I'm sure there were other routes flown as well.

To the best of my memory, AC never operated LHR-DEL or FRA-DEL. I believe their only India routes were:

YYZ-LHR-BOM-SIN
YYZ-DEL nonstop (sometimes with a fuel stop)
YYZ-ZRH-DEL

In the mid 1990s, AC operated 894/895 YYZ-FRA-DEL-FRA-YYZ with a B747 Classic all passenger, and operated 896/897 YVR-LHR-DEL-LHR-YVR with a B747-400.

AC's many efforts at service to India must set some kind of record for the most routes operated in relation to the relatively short total period of time they served India. Unless I've missed something:

YYZ-LHR-BOM-SIN
YYZ-FRA-DEL
YVR-LHR-DEL
YYZ-DEL nonstop
YYZ-ZRH-DEL

And had 9/11 not happened, AC had announced nonstop seasonal service YVR-DEL (A340-300) to begin in October 2001 but it was cancelled before it started following 9/11.

Thanks for the input guys   I was wondering also if ACA used the 744 on the YYZ-HKG and YYZ-NRT routes? I'm assuming no, because those routes haven't been around that long right? They would fly to Asia via YVR.

Never as far as I recall. YYZ-NRT has been around for quite a while. I believe CP began the the first nonstop service on the route in May 1989 using the DC-10-30.

YYZ-HKG was inaugurated with the A340-300, then A340-500. Presently it is flown by a B777. The B747-400 never flew the route.

Absolutely right. CP inaugurated the YYZ-NRT service with the ER version of the DC-10-30. This continued until the merger with AC when an A340-300 was substituted. With SARS and 9/11 demand waned and it became seasonal, with either A340-300 or B767-300 equipment.

Today it is operated daily with a B777-300. The B747-400 never flew the route.

Really? For some reason I had the idea that was Canada 3000 (2T), but I could easily be wrong.

It was AC. Here's the text of the related press release dated March 2001.
