Model Painting

I have a 1:100 model of Tupolev Tu-134 (early series) that is made in East Germany.
I want to paint it in the original Aeroflot colours.
Does someone have ideas how to get precise lines and legends on the modell with paint ?
Does someone have experience with airliner scale model painting ?

I have made and painted many models and I think the best way to get a straight line on a model is to use a blade or that kind of thing. Or, stickytape works just as well :-)
