How Realistic Is Microsoft Flight Sim 98?

Wed Jul 05, 2000 10:48 am

I'm wondering how realistic is Flight Sim 98 because I managed to do some "Impossible" flights on the B737-400.

1. Heathrow-John F Kennedy, New York. (I ran out of fuel on the taxiway of JFK.)

2. Unalaska Island, Alaska-Narita Intl, Tokyo.

3. Rydyah (spelling?), Saudi Arabia-London Heathrow.

I really think these flights are way over 400km.
Another thing, whenever I land a plane there, no matter how slow the decent rate, the plane bounces off the runway. This doesn't seem to happen in real life.

Impossible flights:
this is due to the unrealistic ratios in the air-file of the default 737.You can change this by downloading various aircraft models from any flightsim website.

Bouncing on the runway:
Try to maintain abt 140 knots on final. At abt 30 ft above the runway bring the throttle to idle and raise the nose to flair.Let the aircraft "fly" itself onto the runway, there should be no bouncing if this is performed correctly.

Lets just say it is as "realistic as it could be" when it came out in late 97

What are good sites for downloads? The Official site didn't have the downloads for other planes.

www.microwings.com is also a good site. They don't have tons of stuff, but they have enough. I will have to agree with G-KIRAN about flightsim.com. It is the best!

You should buy Airline Simulator 2 - It is the BEST ever had it! Much better realiable ride the plane and auto pilot landing. It can tune radio NAV and frequency tune. Using the FMS cockpit. The FS 2000 are really really stinks!!!! I have tried that one. NO GOOD!! The people who made programmed and never experience flying that aircraft. The AS2 are real pilots who made the program. You can choice you put fuel amount from point to point you want to fly. I can't believe this you mention ran of fuel!!

Website at: http://www.nomissoft.com/as2.html

Good luck with this program flying!
