Your Rare Flight Safety Cards...

Tue May 29, 2001 2:28 am

Hi!

I was wondering what sort of rare, unusual, flight safety card(s) do you own. Currently I am trying to obtain a flight safety card from Ariana Afghan Airlines. Does anyone have any advice for my quest? I have written to Ariana many times, but they always tell me that they cannot send me a card. Can anyone offer any assistance? Thank you.

I think I saw one or two at eBay, but they fetch awful lots of money, around 50 USD.

So Ariana answer you? I wrote to them numerous times asking them to send me a sickbag, but they didn´t even reply.

I wouldn´t be so sure they currently have safety cards at all, they have other problems...

Hi! I also tried to get Ariana safetycards from the Airline, but they told me that they don't use their 727s and so they don't have safetycards, and on the An24s for domestic flights they never had them. Best regards, Clemens!

I was about to correct this:

Quoting 767ALLTHEWAY (Reply 7):
TWA 747-200
TWA L1011
(Look old) even if they are not rare i still like them lots cause TWA will be gone completly soon.

...till I realised it was 6 years old!

I don't really collect them much but the more interesting ones I have (not sure how rare) are as follows:

British Airways - Trident One
British Airways - Trident Three
Points of Call - DC-8-52
Air Seychelles - B707-320
Cubana - IL-62M
Cubana - IL-96-300

Maybe I should have taken a card from the PIA F27, Saha Air B707, Kish Air Tu-154, Caspian Airlines Tu-154, Iran Air 747SP or Indian Airlines A300B4 that I have flown recently, hey?

Impulse Airlines 717-200
Reeve Aleutian 727-100
TWA 757 (TWA an American Airlines Company)

I also have Tans Peru and Aero Condor both 737-200 which would be fairly rare I guess.

I have been collecting safety cards longer than I care to admit. Some of the rarest I have are some of the old Trans-Canada Air Lines propliners. Viscount and Vanguard of course, but even back to the L1049 and the DC-4M North Star.

One of my favourites is an Air Canada Boeing B2707 SST, taken from a cabin mock-up that was at an exposition.
Just because I stopped arguing, doesn't mean I think you are right. It just means I gave up!

The only rare ones I can think of are -

TAA DC-9-31
The complete set of QF cards in service circa 1988 (747-200B, 747-200B Combi, 747-338, 747SP, 767-238, 767-338)
An original QF 747-238B one from the 1970s

There's one other, but I can't remember the airline - it was from one of the charter birds that was in Australia in the pilots strike in 1991.
I do quite enjoy a spot of flying - more so when it's not in Economy!

EUjet (now defunct) Fokker-100 card. Also have a number of items from the defunct airline, including a quick reference manual for the F-100, and numerous pilot accessories.

I only have one safety card, and it is probably pretty rare now. It is from an Ansett Australia B727-277 (VH-ANA) and was "souvenired" after it made it's last ever passenger flight.

How i miss both Ansett and the B727.......  crying

B727-200.

Oh, I see what you're saying. Still, a T9 card will become more rare, especially considering no more are they.  Smile

Rarest plane type...probably a NW DC-10....

Various safety cards are very rare to get nowadays...

- Daallo Airlines - Ilyushin IL-18 (from a Djibouti - Mogadishu flight)
- Tatarstan Airlines - Tupolev TU-134 (from a Moscow Domodedovo - Nizhnekamsk flight)
- Uzbekistan Airways - Ilyushin IL-114 (from an Astana - Bishkek flight)
- Saha Air - Boeing 707 (from a Teheran Imam Khomeini - Kish Island flight)
- Caribair - Jetstream 31 (from a Santo Domingo - Port au Prince flight)

and the best...

- Aeroflot - Tupolev TU-144 (from a Moscow - Almaty flight in 1977).

Bought in Ebay last month!!!!! 175.00 USD!!!!

GREAT!!!!
