Flight Simulator 2000

Sat Jul 14, 2001 3:12 am

Are there any pilots reading this who also play Flight Simulator? I am hoping to become a Pilot someday and I play Flight Simulator 2000, and was wondering how realistic FS200 is compared to the real thing?

Well i'm not a pilot but i ahve been on BA's flight simulator that they train pilots on. It cost $15Million USD, and to tell you the truth, FS2000 doesn't even come close to it. Sorry to disapoint you but your going to need a lot more than a few ours on Flightsim before you can be a pilot.

OK, heh, was just hoping FS2000 was at least a little realistic... I might give that BA Simulator thing a try, but I'm going to see if I could do that kind of thing at Delta in Atlanta because thats in the states and Delta is the airline I want to work for. Thanks for the info.

FS2000 is the best airline simulator you can get easily. There is an airline sim that is supposed to be better but it costs a few 100$ and you have to order it from sweden or somewhere. There are also some sims that do a better job of small aircraft, but FS2k is best for airliners. When FS2k2 is out will full ATC etc it will be the best by far  Smile.

Like the guy above said, you will need more than FS2000 to become a pilot, but FS is a very good start, especially for a 16-20 year old.

If you want to be a pilot, find your self a reputable school to attend or a flight instructor. And just start flying!

You should try X-plane . It's more realistic when it is about realistic flight.

No PC based sim will ever top a $15M dedicated machine that takes an aircraft hanger and highvoltage lines to run.
Still, FS2K is used by the US military for instrument training. You will not learn to fly in it, but you can learn basic use of instruments and ATC procedures, which saves on airtime in basic trainers.
I wish I were flying

I had been using FS2000 for a why'll and then when i stepped into my first small airplane i knew what everything was, all the instuments and stuff and what it did, so it does help but it whont make you a pilot.
