Whoa, Iraqi 747SP Safety Card At EBay!

Mon Sep 10, 2001 10:49 pm

Hi everybody,

first a disclaimer: I have nothing to do with that auction, I´m not the seller, I don´t know the seller, I don´t have any business promoting this auction, I just want to know what you think about it.

There´s currently an IA 74L safety for sale at eBay. Given the fact that there are lots of people out there who specifically collect SP cards and this is a quite rare one, how much do you think it´s going to fetch? Pretty much, I´d say...

It'll go for an obscenely high price to somebody with more money than brains. It'll fetch a much higher price than you'd see somebody paying for it at a show or convention. Probably is only worth 1/3 of what the final eBay price will be.

The thing about ebay that I don't understand is why people bid very early for an item. The earlier someone bids the higher the final price is likely to be.

There's alot of things that are odd about E-Bay and it's clientel. I think some people just bid on the item early on the off chance that no-one else will see it and they will get it for the low price they bid. Never actualy happens except if the card is crap, or the starting price is as much as people would pay for it. But that Concorde crad is just funny. Even on E-bay people don't usualy pay more than £10-£15 max. Maybe if it was a first issue BOAC or Braniff concorde card then what £20? Oh actualy i forgot this is E-Bay so maybe tripple that?  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
I am the only person that see auctions go for rediculous amounts of money and laugh at the winning bidder?  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
