Mincraft News

Thu Oct 11, 2001 9:57 am

anyone have any vaguely reliable news on any upcoming minicraft releases? in particular the CO 737, alitalia md-80, and any 777? all were listed as late nov, but they change that every month. also does anyone know if they are still planning on releasing a 727-200?... because i hate airfix.

wow, I did not know Minicraft was planning a CO 737. I assume 1/144 scale but what series is it going to be?

I'm curious to know if they're going to go-ahead with the 747 kits in 1:144 scale. I recently completed their AA MD-82 and it turned out really nice (except the clearcoat screwed up the aluminum paint job really badly).

Hey USAIR1489, what kinda paint and clear coat did u use on the MD82? I'm kinda wondering because I have the same kit and I haven't put it together yet  Smile

Doug, I can't wait for their 727, I do hope they go ahead with it. Btw, have you tried Heller's 1/125 727? It's pretty nice, I liked it better than the airfix one.

I used Testors Aluminum (unfortunately it was brush painted and that's what I think caused the problem) and a Krylon gloss clearcoat. The aircraft gray parts turned out very nicely!

Latest news has the 777 with all three engine types and in UA, CO and AA markings to be released imminently. 727 kit is delayed until January. There is still talk about a 747-300, but no concrete news. And that's about it.

talked to Greg Brawbaugh of draw decals yesterday at the airline collectiables show at BFI, and hesaid he'd built a minicarft 777. Apparently the engines are very good, using the sectional construction style of the md-80 kit. what a relief. I keep having 757 nightmares...  Smile
