Shortest FS2000 Runway

Thu Dec 20, 2001 5:43 pm

Theres a runway in southern England, near Bournemouth (its a navy runway) with a runway length of a very short distance, id remember the name, only i cant right now, but i know its very short indeed, i nearly went off the end in my 182S with full power and 20' flap, so its very small indeed.
Its not the fall that kills u, its the sudden stop at the end..

Hi Planespotterx,

I have another good one who for sure is not the shortest but also a very nice and tricky one.
Try to make a landing at Banff (British Colombia, Canada)!!! The runway is situated on
a rock!!! Have fun  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Saba and Lukla are very short as well.
Both are also challenging for other reasons (Lukla is high in the Himalayans so low airpressure, and Saba is on a cliff on the island with a sheer drop on both ends of the runway).
I wish I were flying

Well, I found this post after looking for something else - but I know the answer!
It's the (ex) naval station RNAS Portland, Dorset. Head south west from Bournemouth about 30 miles.
The base has now closed althouth the air sea rescue still operates with the Sea Kings. The runway is only a couple of hundred feet long, used for the choppers.
