FS2002 Runway Select

Sat Feb 02, 2002 1:16 am

In Flight Simulator 2002, the default runway at GRR is 8R. If I change the wind to 260, the active is 26L. How do I make it possible for ATC to clear me using 26R or 8L?

you can't.
ATC will always use the longest runway available. Even a crosswind won't make it take a more appropriate runway. This is probably done for performance reasons (or because marketting pushed the release date forward and development didn't have everything done in time).

It would probably be much harder to program so you could select runway, or perhaps MS didn't think anyone would notice Big grin.
Hopefully it will be corrected to the nect FS version.

We all would.... but this would probably be one HUGE patch. As they have to rip out the guts off some very large parts of the game.

correct. Changing it for FS2002 would mean rewriting the entire ATC and AI code.
Won't happen, too costly and takes too long. Besides which, it is no bug and therefore does not belong in a patch but in an update or upgrade.
