VASM, FSINN, Simulation Direct All Closed!

Dear Hobby Members,

I ask that you please read this letter in its entirety before making any judgment about the decisions I have come to. Due to a second hack into the VASM server I have decided to close the VASM, FSINN and Simulation Direct until further notice. When I first acquired the VASM and the rights to the scripts it uses I thought I was helping to continue a valuable service to this hobby. In the past months this service has brought me nothing by stress. From the whining of people about cheating, the constant attacks against one company or another, to the hacking of servers that provide income for me and my family, this service has become a liability to me in my life. The immaturity I have witnessed over the past few months in this hobby doesn’t even compare to that that I witnessed in elementary school. People this hobby is about a GAME nothing more and nothing less.

It is my intention, at this time, to leave this part of the hobby and go back to what I have enjoyed most, helping Chuck King run VAHC (Voyager Airlines), which I have been chairman of the board for almost 3 years now. Chuck thank you for the great times and the great things you have taught me about this hobby. You my friend are an asset to my life. Whether my plans for the future will change as far as the hobby goes I can not tell you now because I do not know myself. Please do not even bother e-mailing me asking me for the scripts or the domain name for either FSINN or VASM. The domain name for either, the name of each organization nor any of the rights to the scripts will be made available to anyone.

The people I have spoken to about this have asked what the hobby will do without the VASM. I wish to make a suggestion. Stop all the legal crap and the strive to make money etc and bring the hobby back to the place it should be, a hobby based upon a game called Flight Simulator in which pilots enjoyed each others company and flew aircraft and just had fun with one another, this is your hobby and it is up to you what you do with it.

With saying this I cant close this letter to the hobby without mentioning the wonderful staff of the FSINN and VASM. Jogchem Oord who built the VASM before turning it over to me and has continued to upgrade and try to make it a better place, who has also become a very good friend to me over the past year or so. Jogchem and I will be continuing to work on a new project of a market for all internet users that will have nothing to do with virtual airlines which will be an ad based market for all on the net to enjoy. That should launch sometime this spring. Justin Laufer who I love to joke and give a hard time has been very instrumental handling PR for all the organizations as well as helping as a write for the FSINN. I look forward to working with you at VAH in the future. Kevin Archibald, who came up with the first ever net televised TV news break for the VA hobby and has designed many of the images and such you enjoyed on the FSINN. Kevin thank you for all your hard work. Ray Stienle who had to leave the hobby prematurely due to personal reasons, you my friend are missed and hope you return to the hobby soon. Hassan who I never knew your last name to be honest, thank you for all your hard work with Kevin and your talented writing for the FSINN. David Schitoskey, without you and your beginning days of running the FSINN there would never have been an FSINN. Thank you sir for giving the FSINN the great beginning it had. Last but not least thank you to the traders, and companies who not only supported the VASM but posted their news on the FSINN, thank you. It is each and every individual that make this hobby a great and fun place to be.

Chris Calovic

This is amazing!!! I can't believe that a conglomerate this large could go offline! They were successful, useful and fun, and I would like to personally and collectively as an industry thank Chris Calovic for all of the service he has done for the VA world.
