Imported AI Aircraft Crashing On Approach. Help!

Mon Mar 11, 2002 6:29 am

My imported A320's keep landing about 1/2 a mile short and crashing. Is there any way to fix this? I can't stand all the blood!

Try to exchange the A320's .air file with the plane that your are replacing. That should do it. My AI 717's got the default md83 .air file otherwise they crash and behave strange too.

Good luck  Big thumbs up

Thanks!

Also, have you noticed a significant frame rate hit with the imported AI? Using the default AI a/c I get about 20 FPS on the ground with everything maxxed out but with the imported a/c (loads of POSKY a/c) it goes down to about 9-10 FPS. Hopefully the extra 256 megs DDR (to make it up to 512 megs) will help (I am running it on an Athlon 1800 XP+ with a Geforce 2 TI GFX card)

Where can the air files be found?

Ryan, Yes i have noticed a frame rete hit but i consider it being worth it for the extra realism (thou staying away from Ultra high detail A/C as POSKY etc will do good) I got a P1.7, 512MB RAMBUS, Geforce 3 Ti200 and i get around 7 fps at LAX in 1280*1024 with maximum graphics settings.

9V-SVE, The .air files are found in each plane's main folder. Like if you wan't the default 737's .air file you go here: C:\Program\Microsoft Games\FS2002\aircraft\b737_400

Hope it helps.

Still, I can't find it. Which folder is it in? Model? Texture? Sound? Panel?

Thanks Mika

I just found it strange that I could maxx everything out and it would run super-fast but as soon as the AI a/c were put in (for some reason it doesn't like my Air India 744's from POSKY) the rate is halved and gets quite choppy on the ground.

I am putting another 256 megs in tonight, so hopefully things will improve.

9V-SVE, it's in the main folder of the aicraft, make sure you have file extensions visible in windows or otherwise the file is just "737-400" or something like that. (it should be 737-400.air if you have "show file extensions" set to on)

You don't have to open it. You just replace the airfile of the plane that you have installed as AI but can't land properly with the default microsoft one. Example:

I wan't to use "TWA_717" as a replacement for the default "B737_400". Then i take the .air file from "B737_400"'s folder and place it and overwrite (you'll have to change the name of the file) the "TWA_717"'s .air file.

hope this helps.
