Landing The Extra Without Bouncing?

Sun Mar 31, 2002 3:16 am

Hey,
Is there a special technique to make a smooth landings in the EXTRA? Because everytime I land I bounce 3 or 4 times.

Thanks

I've had the same problem. The trick is to get the airspeed right. But since the Extra has such a big engine, and is really aerodynamic, and has no flaps, it's really tough to slow down to the right speed. I'd say you have to plan way ahead, and try slipping... I'll go experiment and let you know if it works out.

Try to stall when you are a couple of centimeters above the rwy.

My brother flys a Pitts Special. (a real one) He's had it for about 8 years.
And he told me that only about 1 in 12 landings are what you would call greaser.
