FS2002 Compatibility Problem With Windows XP

Thu Apr 04, 2002 11:37 am

Hi,
I recently upgraded my computer to Windows XP and FS2002 doesn't run well. I was getting about 20 fps with Windows 98 SE, and it dropped to 3 FPS with Windows XP pro (same graphic settings).

I suspect that this is caused by the video card, but I'm not sure.

Here are my system specs:
- AMD K6-2 500 mhz
- 192 MB SDRAM
- Diamond Speedstar A200 video card
- Windows XP PRO

I've already checked at the video card manufacturer's website and there are no drivers for Windows XP.

Thanks for any help.

Yup, the fact that there are no XP drivers for your card is probably the main culprit.

But also the fact that XP requires a more powerful system to run could be adding to it. This can cause quite a noticable slow down when running certain apps on older systems.

I switched from Win ME to XP Pro a couple months ago, and i didn't lose a single frame on my AMD 1Ghz Tbird.

OK I got it, I started up FS, set the graphic settings to minimal, loaded up the POSKY 763 V3, I still got the 3 FPS, but as soon as I set the sound to off, it suddently got up to 15, where it was locked. So the problem is coming from the sound card and not the video card.

I'll just buy a new sound card and it'll be OK.

I am running XP and 2002 without any problems together. Not that I am that freaked out over framerates.

A one GHZ proccessor helps I think. Your system does seem a little small for XP, for the reason mentioned above
OBAMA-WORST PRESIDENT EVER....Even SKOORB would be better.
