Fri Apr 05, 2002 5:08 pm

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the ignorant question here. What's framrates? How can I get to see it and what does it tells?

Thanks again.

frame rate is the speed at which the image on the screen is being refreshed to show movement. the higher the number the more frames there are in a second.
its measured in frames per second(FPS)
a good frame rate in fs is about 25 but excelent is something like 60 and poor is 2. The better your CPU is, the faster the frame rates are likely to be.

in english he is trying to say the more frames per seconds the better the quality. when ur up at ur FL, the screen runs much smoother, where as when ur down on the ground or airports ( especially those like LAX and heathrow) the framerate goes down quite a bit in order to show the detail.
understand
hope this helps

framerates are completely pointless. DO NOT BECOME A FRAMERATE JUNKY!!!.
I've seen people give up in disgust on games because they were so obsessed with getting higher framerates that they didn't enjoy the game itself anymore.
As long as you get fluid animation and responsive steering, you don't care if you get 10fps or 100.
Anything over 20 is useless anyway as your eyes can't process much more data than that, and anything over 7 or so (acceptable in high density scenery areas only, average performance should be better) gives reasonably fluid performance in FS2002.

I (and many others) have FS2002 locked at 15-20 fps, that gives good performance and prevents the engine from putting all CPU power into giving better framerates (which kills scenery detail and aircraft responsiveness).

So leave that framerate counter alone (having it on does cost performance b.t.w.) and enjoy the game rather than getting obsessed with getting that counter up.
I wish I were flying

Thanks Jwenting for the advice. I didn't care about framerates but I see everyone's talking about tit so I wonder what's the deal... anyway I don't really mind about framrates, whether they are high or low.. as long I enjoy the game!

I know-When I get smooth flight with no interuptions the frame rate counter says it's only 5-6. Accurate?
