Hi all, i think i got the ILS figured out, but if any of u ppl could do a step by step on what to do id be most grateful, i landed at Edinburgh via ILS twice yesterday, but just to make sure im doing it right, a step by step would b helpful.

hmm. This works for me and seems about what the tutorials say  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

1) set the ILS frequency and heading in VOR1.
2) set the VOR and/or NDB for the airport in VOR2/ADF (for navigating to the airport).
3) intercept the ILS slightly below glideslope and within 30 degrees of the localiser (this for the autopilot, it sometimes has trouble establishing with more extreme deviations).
5) set up the aircraft for landing. You should be about 10nm out now (or closer with a light aircraft, say 5nm).
This includes setting autobrake, arming spoilers, set landing flaps, lower gear, set final approach speed. You have a few seconds for all this  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
6) engage APR mode on the autopilot.
7) enter the missed approach hold in VOR2 or the ADF (just in case)
8) watch that glideslope. On rare occasions the autopilot will go too low and you will have to take over.
9) disengage the autopilot at decision height (or just let it land itself and disengage at touchdown, works 9 times out of 10).
9a) disengage autothrottle and idle throttles just before touchdown. On touchdown deploy thrustreversers.

hehe. I've always wondered what's so exiting about autolandings myself.
People keep wining about the lack of a 'land me' button like FS98 had.
While I do use CAT3 landings in FS2002, It's just a change of scenery. A lot of my flying is in places where there is no ILS at all (Caribbean island airports for example), bringing in a 737 or A320 on a VOR or NDB approach to a visual landing (usually with crosswind as those airports are built not with the direction of prevailiing winds in mind but on any stretch of land they could find).

yes jwenting i love making ndb approaches aswell. especialy when there not exactly in line with the runway. cause u have to make procedure turns. The NDB approaches where it inline with the runway are just too easy Smile

That's what I've always done. Just wanna see how the AP works in this case.
Landing with AP and ILS is not real flight sim, is it?
Doing VFR approaches in 15kts crosswind or holding the ILS only by instruments on the panel is the real thing (for FS).
Bring it back, bring it back, bring it back
