I guess you like to sit ouside and point your binos to the sky, just like I do, right?

What kind of binoculars do you use?

Damn, that's a nice zoom. Mine are only 12x45.
But they're pretty durable, they were made in the old USSR. I've had to retrieve them from the bottom of a lake once after my boat flipped.

The best railway station for this sort of thing is Hounslow,it's right under the approach for 27L and the aircraft are about 90 seconds from touchdown!

Between 1994 and 2000 I was travelling to Newport on a daily basis and don't recall it being particularly good for overflights, altough I was more interested in the trains to be honest.

Newport is excellent!Right on the UG1 airway so can catch BRU/FRA/LHR outbounds regularly and CDG/MXP/ZRH etc when the winds allow it. EGGF can you read off the regs at 30,000ft using those binos?

Even smaller considering that I still work on the railway and I'm now based at Donder10's local station!

Newport isn't all bad.....it's where I first met my wife-on a train in platform three immediately after a Wales/England Five nations match.
