I saw G-CIVI being towed out of the hangar wearing a fresh coat of paint, I think only CIVJ and CIVD remain in Landor colours plus a handful of 777's.

Qantas744 - I think you probably saw a Tu-154 (Pulkovo) than a Trident (considering I don't think there are any airworthy tridents, let alone in service Big grin).

OK, I lied... Smile/happy/getting dizzy

The BEA Trident was the one which is always hanging around at the back of one of the maintennance hangars, I think it's used for crew training or something.

A Tu-154 of any variety would have been far more interesting though!

Qantas 744:

The BEA 60's c/s Trident is part of the Trident preservation society, and belongs to them. They pay for upkeep etc of the plane and from what i've heard it has the full 60's interior layout to match the paintscheme on the outside. Did you notice the shorter than usual wings? They had to be clipped a few years back to be able to fit in a hanger that it was in. Shame as it looks a slittle odd with short wings  Big grin
I'll be flying out of LHR this weekend for a quick BMI hope to MAN, as its now cheaper to fly there than drive.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
