Is Anyone Playing EFZED's Airline Simulation?

Tue Aug 06, 2002 4:59 am

I've been playing with this game for a few weeks, and it's pretty cool. You'll find it at www.airlinesimulation.com.

My only complaint is that I can't find other people who are also playing it. I'd love to know who's out there.

Don't have it, but the screenshots make it enticing. Is it as good as the pictures show? I might have to buy it with my next paycheck.

I will be using it soon. Can anyone tell me what Canadian Cities are on it? Also what planes. It better be good for what they charge I still can't get over that, $220 CDN. Do they email you when they get your order if so I better make sure they got mine.

Jj, I'm using 4.2.10. So far, its not too bad.

Dash8King, do the currency conversion again. It shouldn't be more than $70 CDN for you. I paid $43US.

The one thing I didn't like was that they send you the CD in the mail. It's only a 20MB download, but they insist on sending you the CD key through the mail.

It came to $143AUD and at 1.54 it was $218. It comes with 5 download upgrades I didn't see that you could buy just the game. If I wasn't getting it for my bday I wouldn't be getting it at all. But I am looking forward to playing it.

Thats nice, but 1 austrailian dollar is less than 1 canadian dollar. 143 x .089 = 120

Didn't mean to contradict, I just wasn't able to find that on the site. All I saw was the currency converter on the ordering page. It seems very strange they would charge 1.54 when the current xchange rate is .89.

Can anyone tell me what the system requirements are for this simulation? I can't seem to find that information anywhere on their website.

It's strange that they should charge you in Canadian Dollars. Mine was charged in Australian Dollars.

I also recieved a confirmation e-mail when my order was placed, but this was back in November 01. Perhaps they've changed their policy.

There used to be a member from "EFZED" at this forum, I wonder where he is now...

Yes he is the owner. I emailed them but have not received an email back. They gave me the price in AUD dollars and I made the calculations. I also thought that was high cuase I can get the US dollar at 1.51 so....

maybe he quoted the 1.54 in error? i assume he charges you the 143, and your bank does the conversion, taking 120 from your account.

I don't think they charged but I need to hear back from them to make sure they didn't before I order another one. I didn't put it on my Credit Card I put it on my parents since it is for my Bday.

I think im going to buy this next week when i get my next paycheck!
How realistic is it in terms of expansion and profitability?
In Airpro you're almost guarenteed to make tons of cash and be able to add tons of planes every month. What is it like in this game? Do you need to earn your expansion and is it realistic? Or is it like airpro where you just grow and grow and grow and grow and always make money?
Thanks
Tony

If you've been put off by the excessive profitability of airpro I would recommend making your own landfile. My favorite two are New Zealand and Hawaii. Becasue they aren't too big and are isolated enough to offer a limited number of destinations (plus only one real hub airport), you never really havea good excuse for buying more than 60 or 70 planes.

I ordered it from the UK a while ago and it took about a week and a half.

Its great now the scheduling has improved, excellent game.

I have one question to anyone who uses it: How does the cargo work?
Can you only pick up cargo on the actual route you use or can you pick it up if you fly to those two cities . So say I fly LHR-FRA and LHR-JFK, can I pick up cargo for FRA-JFK? In theory you would be able to connect at LHR, but I doubt the game is clever enough to realise this.

Sorry I let this thread die.

Don't confuse an update with an upgrade. I only bought two upgrades, but I get all of the updates to my current version.

It took about two weeks to get it in Pittsburgh. It was worth the wait. I've spent many hours playing with this. Unfortunately, I always seem to start losing money somewhere around year 20.

Well, basically, you loose money when:

a-Average fares are so low that if you charge that you loose money, and if you charge more nobody flies.
b-When you fly a very big airplane into a small city.

I just bought it, I hope it's better than AirPro! Really wish we could just buy it online though, it's a pain to have to wait weeks for it to arrive from Aussie land.

Also, does it let you adjust the seat pitch on the planes, like American's "More Room" and United's "Economy Plus" in real life? Or only the ratio of first vs. business vs. coach and the type of seat in each? Or perhaps the seat pitch is linked to the type of seat you choose?

Got my copy yesterday (2 weeks) and I'm satisfied with it. It is a bit easy like Airpro haven't had any of the AI go broke even if I'm in direct competition.

I have hubs in Hong Kong, JFK, LAX, SFO, ORD & London with a first class fleet and top service. I'm making billions every quarter! The game could be more interesting if it modeled economic cycles and if it had land files like AirPro. With the whole world and only 6 airlines there is more than enough room.

It's really good! But how can I get back to main menu after I go to scheduling? I would like to have it like Train Tycoon where u can pick how many competitors and how hard it is.

I just got my copy yesterday, after exactly 2 weeks. Seems easier than I expected, I guess that's normal with only 6 airlines spread out over the whole world, not as much competition as there should be. Hope they can fix that eventually. Right now Brandonian World Airways has 1 or 2 762's and a handful of MD-80's operating out of DFW to MSP, SAN, PHX, CWA, MKE, GRR, MCI, AUS, IAH, ICT, and OKC, and just about every flight is packed. Currently making about $30 million profits per quarter.

I read in the newsletters on their website there's supposed to be a manual included on the CD? But I can't find it there or in the install directory. Also I don't see how to log into the members' section of the website, it wants a user name and password but I wasn't given one, only the registration key. Any ideas?

Their site has been suffering from some congestion after they put their banner ad here on Airliners for the past 2 weeks.

I hae had Efzed Airlines for about 8 weeks and have had great support and great responsiveness. I find the updates including updated city files and aircraft files easy to install.

Yes I make a lot of money in the simulation and I think they are going to tighten up load factors in future revisions, but sure beats real life!

There are lots of Canadian cities. Some cost money to buy landing rights into but a lot are at no cost including North Bay, Sudbury, Kingston; Sarnia; Windsor; St. John. I am running an airline called Superior Aviation with a fleet of CRJ200, CRJ700 and Airbus 318, 319, 320 mostly covering East Central Canada with a few trunk routes to Vancouver; Edmonton and Calgary and some warm weather flights to Phoenix; Miami; Orlando and Tampa!!

I myself (in person) just got back from YUL to my home in MSP, and let me tell you, winter is definitely coming!! Temperatures right now are around 3 or 4C (36-40F). So maybe I will move all of Superior's aircraft south for the winter and build me a hub in Montego Bay! Just leave some trunk routes leading from Canada to Jamaica and then offer a whole bunch of other tropical destinations out of Jamaica and forget about all those trans-Canada routes!! If somebody needs to get from Thunder Bay to Toronto, there is always a snow plow. My CRJ700 formerly on that route will be operating Montego Bay-Aruba for the next 4 months, thank you very much!
