Uzbekistan Airways Safety Cards

Sat Aug 10, 2002 4:07 am

G'day all

I have just received an email from my guy at Uzbekistan Airways in Tashkent, to let me know he is ready to help us collectors out. But before he moves on this he needs to know approximate numbers of what people want. So here goes.

These are the aircraft which are available?:

Airbus A310
Antonov An-24
Avro RJ85
Boeing 757-200
Boeing 767-300
Ilyushin Il-62
Ilyuhsin Il-86
Ilyushin Il-114
Tupolev Tu-154
Yakovlev Yak-40

Scans of all of these cards are available at: (The blue Uzbek Il-62 IS NOT available AFAIK).

Now, the Avro RJ85 has just had a new card released, which is different to the one on my site. From what I understand they have basically changed some of the details of the card.

I don't know if the other cards have changed also, so this is what I need to know from you guys.

1) Which cards do you need?
2) Do you want the old version, new version (if available), or both?
3) Approximately, what are you looking at spending for each card (Please don't insult my intelligence, nor my friends generosity by saying $1 or $2)

Email me this information on

I will be giving people 7 days to get back to me with what they need.

OK....some questions I will invariably be asked:

Q1. What will the cards cost?
A1. At this stage I don't know. All I am doing at the moment is measuring interest in these cards, to see if it worthwhile for my friend to get them. Costs will be advised soon, when you can decide whether you want to proceed.

Q2. Why are you doing this?
A2. I am doing this to help fellow collectors to add some cards to their collections which they normally wouldn't have the opportunity to get.

Q3. Why are you selling them?
A3. Because my friend in Tashkent is going out of his way not only for me, but also for you guys. It will also have the added bonus of you not having to spend hundreds of dollars and hours of time in finding these cards.

Q4. What do you get out of this?
A4. All proceeds from this will go to my friend in Tashkent. This may have the added advantage of him being more inclined in future to help out with new stuff. Remember, this hobby is still frowned upon in many parts of Russia and the CIS, which basically explains why very few people actually receive anything from the airlines over there.

Q5. Why only Uzbekistan Airways?
A5. Because Uzbekistan Airways is all I am offering at this stage. Other airline safety cards will be coming in the future from various other sources. In fact, if you email me separately with a list of what airlines and aircraft you are looking for, I can see what I can do for you.

Q5. How can I pay?
A5. Well the preferred way to pay is by using PayMate Express ( The money will go directly into my bank account, so that I can mail the cards out without delays. It is also more secure than sending money thru the mail. The only other option available to you, is to send cash (via registered mail) to me thru the mail. I WILL NOT accept bank cheques (unless drawn on an Australian bank) or money orders (unless it is an Australia Post Money Order), as foreign cheques/M.O.s which attract very high fees to cash. I will also NOT be taking IOU's, left legs or first borns.  Wink/being sarcastic

Q6. When will they be available?
A6. Soon

Q7. Who pays for postage?
A7. YOU DO. Postage costs will be known in the near future. I would recommend paying a bit extra for registered mail, as NO responsibility will be taken for missing mail. I am making that perfectly clear from the outset.

Q8. Where will they be mailed from?
A8. They will be mailed from Australia

Q9. Do you have a website?
A9. Good question, and thanks for asking. Yes in fact I do have a website. It is at and displays my collection of Soviet/Russian/CIS aircraft and airline safety cards and postcards. Of course, I am always looking for new cards for my collection, so email me with details of anything you think I may be interested in.

That is basically it people, so all that is left to do is to email me with your interests, and I will get back to you on private email in the near future.
