I Like Orbit And Emerald Harbor-Am I The Only One?

Tue Aug 13, 2002 8:07 am

Hey guys,

I used to be really into downloading every single airplane I could. But lately, I've been enjoying the stock airplanes greatly - particularly the Orbit 737, and the Emerald Harbor Air Caravan. I took the Caravan out the other night, and used it to ply through overcast stratus with moderate icing. And I set visability to minumus and made it snow. Perhaps it's my own perverse sense of "what instrument flying really should be," but I had a lot of fun doing it. And the FS2k2 stock airplanes are so well done (I only have a few gripes - Caravan missing the OAT gauge, and no virtual cockpit for the Learjet, and a few others) that I'm finding that I am ignoring the airplanes that I've downloaded, and that includes a fleet of beautiful ERJs. Plus, it's nice that every airplane has a real checklist. It reminds me of flying the real things, which I suppose is the point.

Anyone else want to join the Orbit/EHA fan club?

I still fly the default FS2002 planes every now and then (except for the Bell helicopter, I still can't fly that)

I'm cool with the default aircraft too. Afterall there's only so many liveries you can take. I like to keep my installation as "clean" as possible. Besides, we don't have to follow all airlines and schedules to the letter. I like to use the simulator to learn, and I like to keep everything simple. I like the blue/gray/white livery on the 172.

By the way, how do those default planes compare to the real thing? Microsoft did afterall cooperate with the real world manufacturers on some of them.

Regards
