ATC Problems

Tue Jan 14, 2003 2:31 pm

I've tried a few flights with some POSKY 744s on FS2K, all of them ending in failure of the ATC.

Whenever I reach my destination, the ATC begins telling the AI traffic around me descent instructions, but they simply ignore me while I approach the area all the way to while I circle above at my cruising altitude.

Throughout the flight though, occasionally they would tell me to contact XXX center.

Anyone else have this problem? What should I do about it?

Some people are like slinkies - not good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs

Try vatsim. Make an account and downlaod all the stuff and go to getting started and that will set you up. The controllers are humans and use real life procedures. Hope you check it out it's great!

Unless you file an IFR plan, you won't get descend instructions or radio vectors.

VATSIM is indeed nice, but coverage is of course limited to who's online at the time (and you need to be online yourself during the entire flight which can get expensive if you don't have broadband).

Just checking that you are fyling IFR.

If flying VFR, make sure you call up the airport to request landing.
