New Microsoft FS Game

Wed Mar 12, 2003 12:24 pm

I was just browsing Microsofts gaming website and stumbled upon what looked to be the newest version of the Flight Sim family. They are calling it Flight Simulator a Centurey of Flight. According to Microsofts website the game is scheduled for release in Summer 2003. Here is a link http://www.microsoft.com/games/PC/flightsimulator.asp.(sorry the link feature wouldn't work for some reason) Anybody heard anything else about this new one?

Yup, it's basically what we were expecting to be called Flight Simulator 2004. Looks pretty nice so far, but not the major leap forward many were expecting. I'm happy I probably wont need to upgrade my computer.  Big grin

I just did upgrade mine. Pushed it to the limits of what the motherboard can take in RAM and CPU both.
Boy what a difference a 50% faster CPU and 50% more RAM make  Big thumbs up

Depends on what you have now.
I decided to upgrade now as the fastest CPU my mainboard can take won't be in production much longer and I don't want to replace my mainboard and RAM with others for at least another year (possibly 2 years).
I did get a very marked improvement in performance. FS runs a lot more smoothly (not a big improvement in fps, as I have that locked at 20 which is not much over what I used to get) and textures look better too (higher res textures are being loaded).

I only have 256 RAM right now, and when I get some cash, I will be getting more RAM. Right now, if the scenery is dense, frame rates aren't great. This is especially true with the Airport 2002 Vol 1 scenery. I'm running a P4 1.6 with a 64 MB video card. I think doubling the RAM will help a bit.

First I want to see if the new MSFS will be more resource intensive, especially with the new weather.

I'd think the new FS game would work well on your machine Captaingomes.

I can't wait until it's released. It looks great!
