Under Rated Airports In FS02

Wed May 21, 2003 10:39 am

I just got gates on the game. But i allways thought about this. Some Airports are just underated in the game. MIA comes to mind first. Such a major gateway to the world and 17 biggest in the world does not even have all the right councoures. Then JFK is not very good also. Other are AMS and Frankfurt/Main. LHR is wonderful in the game along with SFO,LAX,ATL and ORD.

But why have Seattle be such a nice one. It looks great on the game though. But not one airport in the East Coast except for ATL thats is great. hope they do a better job on other airports in 04. But dont get me wrong still the best game ever made and i still love it. Also the Only plane that can fit in the gates is the 747-400. Think of any other airports that really should have more respect. They did not even get Miami Skyline right. Also why is the 777 so much bigger then the 747 in FS02

They did a bad job with many of the airports...MCI does not look good at all...same as it looked is FS98...

They did a decent job within the restrictions (time, budget, program size) they had to work with.

Indeed many airports don't look all that good, but compared to older versions they look fantastic.

Personally I don't care much about the default airports. I just install addon scenery for those I visit frequently rather than pay more for FS itself to get a detailed airport I'll never fly to anyway...

Even though LAX has gates, I don't think it was done very well. When you park at some of the gates the back half of your plane is sticking out onto the taxiway.

I'm with Jwenting.
As with aircraft, sounds and panels, you get much better results from the download sites.

Cleveland is missing a terminal, a runway, and several taxiways. Also, the runways are mis-numbered.

766, when was the runway numbering changed and when was the new terminal opened?

Quite possibly both were AFTER the scenery database for FS2002 was closed for changes.
You could as well complain that the new runway at Schiphol isn't there, but that too would be senseless as it didn't even start construction until after FS2002 shipped Big grin

Seattle is the home of Microsoft. I know I've heard it somewhere before that they like adding lot's of detail to the Seattle area.

I love SNA but it has hangar-textured terminals.

MCI terminals are too close together

JFK is downright scary looking

BUR is just plain wrong with it's huge terminals

JFK is terrible. LHR is pretty good, probabaly the best airport in the UK.

If you have a really bad airport like JFK, you could just download some better scenery.

I agree that downloaded scenery tends to be much better than default scenery....but there is one problem...Where can I find a MCI scenery redesign? There are many airports that do not have files to download to make them better. Such a case is MCI.

If anyone knows where I can find a good scenery thing for FS2K2 please let me know. Thanks,
Michael

They love adding detail to the Seattle area, now such as when they add in great detail, the buildings that make up Microsoft's World Headquarters.

I actually hate the default LHR scenery, I had to buy an add-on to make it look better, now I like it  Smile/happy/getting dizzy I'm going to have to fly or to Seattle and see what all you guys are talking about.
