textures will be in one of the following formats, all bitmaps (bmp):
DXT1, DXT3, 32Bit or 16Bit (various settings for 16)
To edit them you need either
A> Imagetool (comes with FS2002 Professional or you can download it)
or B> DXTbmp available on the better FS
sites (AVSIM, Flightsim.com, etc)
You need to convert the textures into something your graphics program can open, either 32bit, 24bit or if you have no other option 8bit.
Paint shop pro and Paint cannot do 32Bit graphics (PSP
will open 32Bit bitmaps but will ignore the Alpha layer), they need 24Bit. Photoshop will open 32bit. the gIMP depends on the version you are using, the newr ones will open 32Bit, older only does 24Bit.
The Alpha channel is what handles the reflective effects for Fs2002/2004, you CAN
get away with not using it, just save your work in 24Bit and convert it to DXT1 when you're done.
Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
