Nice game I have to say, just wonder why those airlines that are managed by the PC they get to first place in rank with rare routes like ATL- Central Africa?

Or routes that in real life dont even sit 10 people on an a/c.

Ambiant Air (Airlines 5)

About 40 planes or so now.
340-500
319 Fuel Option
330-200

All with at least PTV, Music, and 32+ Pitch.
Thats all of em. I stick to just Airbus' so my maintanence remains low, and invest in hubs (JFK-East bound routes, LAX-West bound routes, BKK-home hub, and about to buy either Paris Orly or SYD...haven't decided.)

As for my self-made Ambiant Air in FS2002.
A319
A340-600
A330
767-400ER
BBJ (love flying that)

Haven't tried to go online yet. Was thinkin' of tryin' my hand at makin' my own Virtual Airline. What Virgin is to BA, Ambiant is to Virgin.

Jump (soon to be TransAmerican)

I have a fleet of 105 aircraft at the moment increasing to around 180 in the next 3 years, my fleet is as follows:

78x ERJ-140LR
10x ERJ-145XR
6x TU234 (to be sold when I re-name)
4x A340-500 (to be sold when I re-name)
2x 777-200LR
2x 717-200HGW
1x Gulfstream 5 (5 first class passengers for long haul flights)

On Order For delivery in the next 3 years:
15x 747-400
15x 777-200LR

My hub airports are currently Copenhagen and Dubai, however in the next few months I will be moving to Kansas City, and starting operations all over north America under the name TransAmerican. I will also be flying to Asia, Africa, Europe and Australasia.

What are your views on my decision?

Thanks LHRman  Big thumbs up

P.s Just in case people didn't realize I will be leaving my Copenhagen and Dubai hubs for Kansas and my current balance is $11,000,000,000.00 without taking out the money for new aircraft.  Big grin

Hi,

I am still undecided whether I should buy this game or not. I've heard that it's unrealistic in some sense (you operate a ridiculous route with a 747 and still make prophit). And the game's supposed to have lots of bugs.

What's your view on this. Is it really worth the money?

It was worth the money, believe me... I was also worried about it.

I started in 1950s with Comets and Viscounts and then later on I graduated to a heap of VC10s operating internationally, with Caravelles as my domestic fleet.

Whenever I bought new Caravelles, I'd use the Viscounts to open up new routes.

Eventually, I replaced the VC10s with Tristar 500s - an almost perfect replacement. I then got into 737s...

It was a long game  Smile ...

Trent.
I do quite enjoy a spot of flying - more so when it's not in Economy!

Are any of you just from the new users who are starting on the freebie Airline Sim Online promo recently?

HOw did you get so many a/c in so little time? Seems impossible given the low amts of capital you have to start with, no?

The people at Efzed do an amazing job. I have played AIRLINE since it was still in the 3.0 versions and it keeps me happy. 5.0 really improved it from the standpoint that it made the game harder to play. You can't just make an all F 747 work on every route anymore. Also, since it is constantly evolving, you sometimes get bugs, but it happens almost never now and they respond ASAP to all customer querys. I recommend that anyone who is interested in this type of game but AIRLINE, it really is that good.

I have to say that I am actually a little bit disapponited with the game. The two main points are the game play and the unrealisim. I have made a profit on every route I have flown regardless of aircraft type and thats whether in Real World or beginner. There are little things as well, e.g. you cannot fly 747's into Denpasar because the minimum runway length for the 747 is longer than the maximum runway length but both Garuda and JAL have operated 747's into Denpasar in real life. Also the computer opposition is very bad, on all levels, the game should have the ability to add much more competion and make it difficult for the player. And finally, playing a quarter at a time is very poor game play, it reduces your control of your airline. Given the quality of many other sims (non aviation) game play i.e. the continuity, I did expect something alot better.

Little things I know but it takes away the realism of the game. It has the potential and the foundations to be a great game but at the moment it falls short on a few points.

Regards.

It's been a while since I've played. My airlines typically were Southeastern US or Western US (Southern Airways and Western Airlines). My best round in Airline Online was Game 3. Ended up in the top five world airlines overall and had a fleet of over 100 owned aircraft. Key to our success was leasing aircraft to fit an ever-expanding route network. We would work to exploit underserved sectors and replace leased aircraft with owned aircraft as quicikly as possible. Once AO started allowing airlines to lease out owned aircraft, we took our older aircraft out of service for maintenance, then put them out for lease. My company worked out a deal with a major South American carrier to be their primary source of leased aircraft. When they entered the leasing business, we offered offered different airframe types to avoid competition between our leasing outfits. My fleets were always a mix of heavy Boeings, some Airbuses and a family of regional jets (both CRJ and EMB). Basically my companies were always regionals that outgrew their regional roots. Also, if another company that I was not allied with got too close for comfort, I would aggressively go after them. One carrier attempted to siphon off business in my lucritive southeast region. I had enough equipment and capital that I undercut him on every service he had in competition. Didn't force him under but my actions, along with those from a couple of other carriers forced him to withdraw entirely from the market.

Hmmm well this is an old threat brought back from way back when. I havn't gone near my Airline in ages, but if I remember right my last fleet was something like...

owned/leasted...

-5 737-200C
-30 737-300
-10 737-500
-2 747-100
-6 747-200B
-4 767-200
-2 DC-10-10
-10 DC-10-30

on order...
-10 737-700 (to replace some 300s which will take over some 500 routes, and the 500s take over some 732 routes and those 732s will take over some 731 routes and the 731s phased out, and some expansion)
-12 737-800 (to expand)
-4 747-400 (to replace 741s and some 742s)
-12 767-200ER (to expand)
-15 767-300ER (to replace DC-10s and some expanding)

Also was looking at picking up about a dozen or so used F28-1000s or F28-3000s.

DHC-8-100
DHC-8-400
ERJ-145XR

Not a lot of international flights. When I get my game (hopefully tomorrow) I am looking to having a lot of intl. flights, especially to Europe. I'm going to make my hub PHL and I'm still thinking of an airline name. I'll let you know how I'm going when I get the game.

Hi i have started various airlines and after a while i get run time error messages which is really annoying esp the last time as i had bought out a number of smaller bad performing companies and made them profitable.
Is there anything i can do to stop these run time errors.

RE: Yer Airline 5 Fleets!...

Ok everyone I'm really bored so I'll share some facts about my airline, "Canadian".

We currently serve markets all over Canada, as well as international service to 5 continents, from my hubs in the following cities...
-Vancouver, British Columbia (YVR)
-Calgary, Alberta (YYC)
-Yellowknife, Northwest Territories (YZF)
-Toronto, Ontario (YYZ)
-Montreal, Quebec (YUL)

also have focus cities at the following places...
-Edmonton, Alberta (YEG)
-Regina, Saskatchewan (YQR)
-Winnipeg, Manitoba (YWG)
-Ottawa, Ontario (YOW)
-Halifax, Nova Scotia (YHZ)

I fly to 17 countries on 5 continents. My destinations include:
Abbostford (YXX), Amsterdam (AMS), Anchorage (ANC), Atlanta (ATL), Bogota (BOG), Boston (BOS), Calgary (YYC), Cambridge Bay (YCB), Caracas (CCS), Chicago (ORD), Dallas (DFW), Dawson Creek (YDQ), Denver (DEN), Detroit (DTW), Edmonton (YEG), Fairbanks (FAI), Frankfurt (FRA), Ft. Lauderdale (FFL), Ft. McMurray (YMM), Ft. Nelson (YYE), Grande Prarie (YQU), Halifax (YHZ), Hay River (YHY), Hong Kong (HKG), Honolulu (HNL), Houston (IAH), Inuvik (YEV), Iqaluit (YFB), Kelowna (YLW), Las Vegas (LAS), Lisbon (LIS), London (LHR), Los Angeles (LAX), Madrid (MAD), Memphis (MEM), Mexico City (MEX), Miami (MIA), Minneapolis (MSP), Montreal (YUL), Moose Jaw (YMJ), New Orleans (MSY), New York City (JFK), Norman Wells (YVQ), Ottawa (YOW), Paris (CDG), Penticton (YYF), Philadelphia (PHL), Phoenix (PDX), Prince George (YXS), Prince Rupert (YPR), Quebec City (YQB), Resolute (YRB), Rio De Janeiro (GIG), Rome (FCO), Salt Lake City (SLC), San Diego (SAN), San Francisco (SFO), San Juan (SJU), Sao Paulo (GRU), Saskatoon (YXE), Seattle (SEA), Shanghai (PVG), Smithers (YYD), St. John's (YYT), St. Luis (STL), Sudbury (YSB), Sydney (SYD), Terrace (YXT), Thunder Bay (YQT), Tokyo (NRT), Toronto (YYZ), Val D'Or (YVO), Vancouver (YVR), Victoria (YYJ), Whitehorse (YXY), Winnipeg (YWG), Yellowknife (YZF).

My fleet includes 117 aircraft, of which 34 are leased. It is an all-Boeing fleet, with members of the 737, 747 and 767 families. The current fleet looks like this:
-28 B737-200Adv (0/12/88)
-30 B737-300 (0/12/105)
-15 B737-500 (0/12/90)
-9 B747-400 (0/60/249)
-15 B767-200ER (0/36/145)
-20 B767-300ER (0/45/189)

My oldest aircraft is a 16.75 year old B737-200Adv. My newest is a brand new 767, delivered right from Boeing just this quarter.

My airline is currently ranked as #1 overall from last Q.

The Average # of points per member of my Frequent Flyer Program (CanFlyers) is approx 165,130 as of last Q.

My average load factors are 75-95% in Bizz and 70-90% in Econ for last Q.

Last Q I made record profits, over $1 Billion. Approximatly 87% of the revenue is from Pax, 12% is from Cargo, and 1% is from pax services.

Last Q I spent approximatly $65.5 million on jet fuel, $2.3 million on advertising, $4.2 million on free newspapers in bizz and econ, and $6.6 million on free aircraft models in bizz.

Next Q, my airline will have its 7th birthday, and in that time we have been profitable on all but 1 of the quarters.

In the future, I plan to add more 737s and 767s to the fleet, and possibly the yet to enter service Boeing 777.

Well I got a new airline now called Tecate Airlines. We are 2 years old and only do Canadian Cities right now.

YVR HUB
20 737-500
10 737-400

YYZ HUB
25 737-500
15 737-400

We are going to be going world wide soon and are looking at the best aircraft for that. We are looking at the 767-200ER, 767-300ER, A310-300 or the DC-10. We also are going to open hubs in Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal and London England. The new hubs will be serviced but 737-500, 737-400 and 737-300.

Co737800,

I suggest you use the B767 aircraft, as the A310 and DC-10 are older and cost more to run. I have ordered Airline 6 and i am awaiting the download e-mail.

I would suggest a mix of 767-200ERs and 767-300ERs or the A310-300 (possibly with some A300-600Rs aswell) also...

But the DC-10 is a nice aircraft aswell... (possibly DC-10 for now and then an MD-11 order later??)

Now Airline 6.0 Fleet..

Mon Jan 17, 2005 5:37 pm

Just rolled my Airline 5.0 game over to the new 6.0. It works fine and we've grown substantially. I'll list my fleet later-lost track of aircraft totals.

My widebody fleet, posted in another thread is over 100+ and growing. I have two companies that I control plus an all cargo subsidiary using mostly handdowns from the other companies as new aircraft come online. Parent company is maxed out at ten hubs and makes more per quarter in cargo revenues than the total revenues of any of the other carriers. Currently our cargo revenue is approximately $750 million a quarter with perhaps $30 million being contract cargo. Our cargo subsidiary does not handle contract cargo, loose shipments only and generates a profit of about $60 million each quarter. It saves on overhead costs, using the parent company's rights facilities and staff. We've tied up the Boeing and Douglas production lines for some time now and that will remain the situation well into the future. Most of our 100+ DC-10-40s generate enough cargo revenue that it pays the operating costs, making the passenger fares pure profit-can't beat that! Our DC-10-30Freighter fleet has doubled to 26 and has made over a billion dollars in revenue on one contract alone. That contract has basically funded our cargo network development costs and left us with a $800 million profit.

Ship US Express Air Cargo!
