Justplanes Video's....

Mon Oct 13, 2003 1:22 pm

Well After ordering some more DVD's from the Justplanes crew, I am looking forward to watching them.

#1. Qatar Airways A319CJ/A320 and A330
#2. VG Airlines A330-200
#3 Air Tahiti Nui A340-200

Those are the ones I ordered.

I hope Justplanes would come out with a DVD on more Airbus such as an Airbus part two, continuation of the Video with all the test flights that they had on VHS. I still think that video is awesome!

What do you all think?

Thanks

I agree with you on the VHS of "Airbus Vol. 1". Tremendous window-rattling action from Toulouse on that program.

Vol. 2 will probably never see daylight however.

"Harry's" (B.L.&P. of Germany) has put out some Airbus-Only material, including.......

Hi N737MC, I have all 3 of those DVD's and I think that Qatar and Air Tahiti Nui are very well done. I personally am disappointed with VG though it appears popular with some people here.
Qatar has real friendly crews who seem to enjoy interacting with film crew. They give excellent explanations of their aircraft and routes. The destinations are to airports otherwise not seen on Jp series. Although the approach to LHR was filmed during dusky time of day I think it is one of the best I have observed in the series.
Air Tahiti Nui has the best job of filming at LAX that I have seen on JP. Unfortunately most of the flights at their home base of Papeete is night time. I reckon that has to do with timing of international service. The landing at Tokyo Narita and the takeoff from Osaka are nicely recorded.
I have already stated my reason for not liking VG on another posting in this forum so will not repeat.
I hope you enjoy them.  Smile

I haven't had a chance to watch the Qatar DVD, but I am really disappointed that they did not choose to fly any routes with the A300. There isn't a Justplanes DVD yet with the A300/A310 cockpit, and I would really like to see one. These aircraft are becoming more rare all the time, so hopefully JP will get the opportunity before it's gone.

There most certainly are Airbus A300 / A310 DVDs. ............

Granted...the A300 program features an "A300F" Freighter....but the cockpit panel on the Freighter is surely identical to the pax variant.

Ooops, I forgot about the Air Calin! Has anybody seen that one? Is it any good?

While yes the DHL is an A300F, it's the old style A300, and I meant the newer style A300-600/A310 cockpit. However, I was not clear on that in my post. I still would have liked to see the Qatar DVD show some of the A300 too, as we have plenty of A320/A330 videos already.

Captain.........

I have the Aircalin. I watch them in bits 'n pieces (much better, IMO, to spread them out over a period of months & years; much less tiresome to view that way). So, I don't remember whatsoever how the A310 footage plays out. Maybe someone else has watched it recently.

Re. the A300 .... You're right. The Contractors' DVD includes the A300B4(F), not the newer A300-600.

Tell me, does the A300-600 have the glass cockpit (with just a 2-man crew)? The B4 and B4 Freighter have the analog instrumentation, correct? With 3-man crews?

I have the Contractors program too....but I can't remember in the slightest what the exact cockpit layout is like on the DVD. With so many programs, they all pretty much blend together as an aviation blur after a while.  Smile (Still fun to watch & collect, though. Don't get me wrong. Just Planes is an armchair pilot's dream come true.  Smile)

Lax,

the A300-600 incorporated some of the advancements of the A310, including the 2 man glass cockpit, the tailcone, wingtip fences, and other changes. The A300 B2 and B4 have the old style 3 man cockpit, and that is the cockpit in the Contractors DVD.

In the Air Calin DVD, they have a bunch of 737 flights (again, an aircraft they have filmed many times) but only one flight on the A310. I would personally like to see an Air Transat DVD, and concentrate on the L1011 and the A310 on that DVD.

Of the three you just bought, only VG is not "up to par". The just planes website lets one preview each DVD before you buy. Nice touch!
