Add-On Scenery

Thu Nov 06, 2003 2:51 pm

Anyone know how I can enhance runway and taxiway textures and add/enhance buildings at Add-On airports in FS2k2/2k4? Also, what would be the best program to use?

AFCAD2 is your best bet. You can change the Taxiway textures and the Runway textures. Later versions of AFCAD2 will posably have the abilty to Add buildings to a limited extent, but not remove them.

NO. AFCAD will NOT create ANY textures or buildings and won't work on non-default stuff at all.
You can (maybe) ONLY do a bit of setting other textures from the default ones that are already there!

You'll need a good graphics editor, a lot of talent and the sourcefiles of the addon scenery to change that more than marginally at best (which is as things should be).

What if I just wanted to ADD textures to existing taxiways and runways. I guess what I mean is adding tire marks here and there. Widening runway widths, etc.

Go to www.simaviation.com. They have a couple different textures (in the Scenery dles) for darker or lighter runway textures.

The scenery area also has airports, and buildings, and trees even.

I'm still looking how to add sky-bridges to all the airports. I downloaded a KIX and NRT add on that has them. Very nice.

AFCAD2 for Fs2004 DOES allow you to change the texture type for Taxiways and runways. (ie Concrete, Ashphalt, Macadam, Tarmac, Gravel, Water etc). You can also change the widths and SOME of the markings, navaids and lighting on runways, also edge and center line markings on taxiways and apron routes. Future versions may also allow apron textures to be changed. Buildings and building parts (like jetways) should be available to add and move in the upcoming versions of AFCAD2. Also is DOES work on 3rd party, the textured taxiway/runway textures simply do not appear SOMETIMES, and sometimes the "progressive taxi line" doesnt show, it DOES however place routes just like AFCAD in FS2002.

For Fs2002, you can purchase Flight Simulator Scenery Editor from Lago Online to add buildings, jetways, vehicles, scenery, "people" and things along those lines from a pre-defined set.
Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

I did not say you could "create" textures or buildings with AFCAD2. I said you can change textures (AFCAD2 can access 24). And will possibly be able to add buildings future.

FlyLAX,

Short of editing the runway texture file itself to add tire marks, I have to say no. You can't put a texture on top of a texture. (Not counting Aircraft). You can replace the runway textures with ones that have tire marks.

Widening runway widths, etc.

This can be done with AFCAD2.

If you want to replace the Runway textures. I suggest trying " aeu_fs9 " by Chris Arrington. This package can be found on http://www.avsim.com
Make sure you read the README file.
