FS2K4 Sound Goes Staticky Halfway Through Flight?

Mon Nov 24, 2003 5:35 am

I've noticed lately that when flying any FFX plane, that about halfway through the flight that the sound begins to pop and skip out especially when I switch views. My system is top notch with 1GB ram, Radeon 9700 video card, and 2.4Ghz processor. Every other plane works great, but only recently has this been going on.

Has anyone else had a similar problem or knows how to fix this?

Which plane you using? I got the same problems with the DC-10. I also have a very good computer.

I've noticed it happens on my FFX 737 and MD80 but not on my DC10's. I'm thinking its panel-related. I'm performing tests right now to narrow down the problem. I'll probably have to re-install, change panels and stuff.

sounds to me like a sound driver problem...

if you use Creative cards, make sure you've got the most updated driver.

If you mute the sound (Q) then turn it back on is it normal?

If I mute the sound and then turn it back on it is still the same. I have to shut fs down and restart.

I recently downloaded the Precision Panels NG737 panel for fs2k4 and that is when the problem started. I uninstalled fs and re-installed it without that panel or it's gauges, and the problem is about 90% gone. I still get little ticks in the sound when I switch views. I will probably have to install all my specific gauges in seperate folders with respect to their individual panels to stop the overwriting of gauges every time I install a new panel.

I have just done a search on AVSIM forums and the general concensus is that it is related to the Win XP drivers for the sound blaster 'live' hardware.

Turning down hardware acceleration on the sound card makes it better, and buying a top notch sound card cures it. Not what I would like to hear.

Only happens on some third party aircraft though, and I have not had a problem since switching to PMDG.

Craig.
