ATI Radeon 9800 Pro/XT 256 Question

Wed Dec 03, 2003 3:58 am

I am going to buy either the radeon 9800 pro 256mb or the radeon 9800xt 256 mb graphics card. But I don't understand which one is better. I know both are amazing but which one would be better for fs2004 and why? Thanks in advance for any info.

Ill take this one, considering i work at Best Buy  Smile AND I SELL THEM BOTH  Smile

Purchase the 9800XT the XT version has faster loading speeds and faster graphic speeds which will give your game play a better all around feel. 256mb is HUGE! and beleive me you wont be disappointed with your game play.

As for the PRO addition, this too is also a great card however its loading speeds per pixel are slower then the XT.

Hope that helped you out  Smile

Galvanair777,
I noticed that the loading speed etc. was faster on the XT when I compared the two but then when I noticed that the pro had the new sddr2 memory I thought that that might be a good idea to have. Is that not so?

I should add that it really depends on your machine too. If you have an older machine then the sddr 2 memory wont do you a lick of good. If you have a newer machine (one being less then 6 months old) then you should be ok with the sddr ram. The sddr ram however in my opinion isnt all that Radeon made it cracked up to be.

Plus, make sure you have at least Microsoft 98SE and at least 256 mb of Ram when buying a new card.

Also its very important what type of slot you have on your computer whether it is an AGP or PCI slot. The Front of the card will tell you which type it is for example a card reading "9800XT AGP" Will ONLY work for an AGP slot on your CPU. (AGP slot it should be noted is usually a brownish colored slot inside your cpu) If you DO NOT have an AGP slot or your unsure, open the computer up and check the slots at the very bottom of the tower. If the 3rd slot from the bottom is brown then its AGP.  Smile
