Crazy Idea...

Wed Dec 24, 2003 3:32 pm

Hi everybody...

Last night i had this dream eh, and it was wierd because it was like one of those "a day in the life of me 50 years from now" sorta dreams. Anyhow to cut the story down to something that you all can read without falling asleep, ill just skip right to the part i remember the most.

Ok so i lived in this place eh, but it wasnt no shack in the city, it was a 747 (Cant remember what type, i guess this will work with -100,-200,-300 or -400 series). So basicly it was set up like so with the main doors kinda seperating the different parts of the place:

-the upper deck and the flt deck was done up like a lounge/living room, with a few comfy chairs and some tables and a bar thing that sorta stuff
-The nose section being the main bedroom
-The next bit being a bathroom and 2 guest rooms and i think a closet
-The next bit (the bit over the fwd wing) was i believe the dining room/kitchen
-Followed by the office (computers, photo books, that sorta stuff)
-And then the next bit (aft cabin) was what was it now it was the laundry room, and another room with a good sized fish tank and a big area with some big models and a few smaller ones on selves in it
-And another can in the rear of the aircraft.
-The galleys were converted into closet space; the centre fuel tank i believe was used for the heating fuel; and the rear cargo holds was used for the water tanks furnace and that stuff; and the cargo holds forward of the wings was used to store stuff, like a basement sort of thing.
-It was i think a few acres property so there was plenty room to leave the wings on and everything; and there was the big stairs lined up with the second set of doors on either side and on the rear doors both sides, with the rest of the doors containing the ussual slide system for evaquation purposes; and one of the wings made a great deck!
-Every morning one of us would do a walk-round to make sure the place was still holding, and the wings and rear fuselage had some supports, to make the thing a little more solid for living in.

Althou this was just in a dream, when i think about it, it would be a really sweet thing to live in for real life... I hope this makes some sort of sence, what you think?

Stranger things have happened Ryanair737  Big thumbs up

Have you seen the B727's turned into houses? I have heard some even pivot on their COG so that they act like a wind vein.

I remember seeing a story on in a magazine about a woman in I think Mississippi who took an old jet and turned it into a house. The wings were removed, but the whole fuselage was there. I think the gear was gone too, and it was resting on a dirt mound that supported it. I remember that the cockpit was turned into a bathtub. All of the instrumentation was gone, but the two yokes were there and and were left for her grandkids to play with when they visited. I think it would be really cool to buy an old plane and do that!

A 747 has about 4,000 sq. ft. of space... on the main and upper decks...thats pretty dang big...and I assume the cargo holds are of sufficient size so they could serve as a basement of some sort and additional living space...the main problem is the logistics of getting a 747 to a big enough plot....I wouldnt want just the fuselage...I'd want the wings and engine nacelles still attached...

I have heard of the 727s, but never hurts to have a little extra room for my junk, its pretty damn big and if i had that space i shant find it too hard to fill most of it...

And as i said it would be on a bigger lot so everything would be left on and there would be room left over... So from the outside it would look pretty much like yer average 747 only with a railing around a wing and some supports under each wing and under the rear fuselage...

I would leave the flt deck as-is, only the walls at the back of it would be removed and the pilot seats would be moveable, thus making the upper deck all one room....

I've thought about getting a used 747, converting it into a house and planting it in a field. Would be an awesome house. I wonder where you could get the aircraft from and how much it would cost to transport and do up!!?

You would get the aircraft from an airline, and the cost would be miles out of my budget, Like i say "Great ideas riding on small budgets."

Happy holidays everyone!

Have a look at http://www.maxpoweraero.com/ACHomes.htm for your airplane homes!  Big grin

However, I doubt their business will really "take off" anytime soon.

thats the right idea but my 747 idea would be bigger, woudnt swing around everytime the wind blows and everything will still be there; by the time i pile my junk in and around it i dought its gunna go very far.
