How To Get Rid Of Default AI Traffic In FS9?

Tue Feb 03, 2004 12:22 am

Hi,

I have a pretty extensive collection of Project AI add on airlines. Thing is, most of the time they dont show up because their position is taken up by one of those annoying Pacifica, Soar or Orbit flights. I have tried the Project AI remove package but it doesnt work for me - I have run it at least 10 times to no avail.

I run Win XP, FS9 on a Centrino 1,4Ghz laptop with 512MB RAM.

Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers!

I just deleted all the default 747-400,737-400 and MD83's and Dash8's . Only bad part is you can't fly them - but they aren't that great whem compared to the freeware out there.

What I did was replace the defaults with add-ons using TTools. Since Southwest 737s, Northwest DC9s, etc. are very common in the US, I just replaced the default 737s/M80s with add-ons such as these. The drawback is flying globally, as you wouldn't run into American M80s in places such as Tahiti. What you can do then is use the CTRL F feature and scan your flight plans (searching for each aircraft number) and use more regionally appropriate aircraft on specific flights. Takes some time, but my AI has come together nicely. I should have it running perfectly by the time FS10 comes out and I have to start all over again.

@United_Fan,
so if you delete them out of the aircraft folder, do you still hear them on ATC? Btw do you guys get the message "you are 300 above/below your assigned altitude" for AI traffic a lot? I got really annoyed by that.

I did a complete reinstall yesterday, used the Project AI default traffic remover today but those buggers are still flying around in my sky.

@Bernard Shakey, I heard you can remove default traffic altogether using TTools. Unfortunately I am not too familiar with the program, is it hard to use?

Cheers for your replies so far!

StarFlyer, my AI traffic do that also sometimes. They are a bit too high then they descend and are a bit low. The result is ATC that will never shut up and AI aircraft contrails that look like waves.

I was doing a flight from Frankfurt to Dubai and a Lufthansa flight to Oman was trailing me on the same airways and every 5 minutes it was too high or too low. Not very good pilots those AI folks are they?! Big grin

Did ATC keep saying something like "Lufthansa *** you are 300 above your assigned altitude, descend and maintain flight level 330."?

If so, you need to download the newest FDE's - these are FDE v6. I had this problem not long ago, asked on the projectai boards and it was solved straight away.

If you need anymore help updating your FDE's, Oliver Caspers is the person to ask. The forum is located here:

one quick way.

Use ttool to decompile the trafficxxxx.bgl file.

You should have flight plan file, aircraft file...

import the flight plan file into excel (use csv to seperate into different column).

So your excel file may look like this.
col 1 col 2......
AC#4 (can't remember what's next)

Now, all you have to do is to sort the column with ac#.

select and delete all flight plan associated with that ac#. save the file as text file.

recompile and you are done.

Chiawei's suggestion is the best one.

All you have to do is delete the default aircraft and flight plans using ttools and your set.

You can then replace it with Ultimate Traffic.  Smile  Big thumbs up

Project AI has a default aircraft remover as well as a GA aircraft remover. It can be found under the "official files" section of AI), USA - California">PAI's website.

1. Using TTools, copy your flightplans030528 to another location on your computer should you want to use it later.
2. In TTools, delete the flightplans030528
3. Using Windows Explorer go to: Microsoft Games/FS9/World/scenery
4. Open the scenery folder, go to the bottom and Delete the traffic030528.bgl
5. Go back to TTools and do a COMPILE
6. This will remove the default flight plans from FS9

That's what I did. After that I lost all including the general aviation. I wanted the GA back, so I went to projectai.com, and they have a download for the GA aircraft. Now I'm have opposing thoughts, especially when a Cessna somehow gets in front of me on final!!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
