Project AI Help

Sat Feb 28, 2004 10:29 am

I was working on COMAIR flight schedules for my FS9, but the callsign is screwed up. Instead of COMAIR, ATC says Bombardier COMAIR and says COMAIR in phoenetics instead of as one word.

Here is the COMAIR jet in the AI), USA - California">PAI-CRJ aircraft.cfg file:

[fltsim.4]
title=AI), USA - California">PAI CRJ2 COM
sim=paicrj200v6
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=COM
kb_checklists=
kb_reference=
atc_id=N646CA
atc_airline=COMAIR
atc_flight_number=5967
atc_parking_codes=CAW
atc_parking_types=GATE
ui_manufacturer=Project AI
ui_type=CANADAIR REGIONAL JET CRJ200
ui_variation=Comair Delta Connection
atc_heavy=0
description=Project AI CRJ2 Only for use with AI Traffic!

Did I screw something up here? Any help is appreciated.. thanks

Edit: Damn anet html, I hope that's still understandable.

Just replace the atc_airline=COMAIR line with atc_airline=COMMERCIAL

As for the pronouncation, it sounds like you have a bad EditVoicePack update. Go to this site: http://bevelstone.xs4all.nl/FlightSimulator/EditVoicepack/ and download the program. That should add a good bunch of callsigns as well as fixing a couple.

Thank you CPH. Got rid of the Bombardier, working on downloading the .net framework crap for the Voicepack.

Ok, I still cannot figure out how to get ATC to say Comair instead of Charlie Oscar...etc.

Ran EditVoicePack and updated it, but my damn FS2004 still wont say Comair as a whole. I'm stuck, I probably screwed something up and I haven't a clue where to fix it.

Have a look to see if COMAIR is available in editvoicepack. It is not in my version. You will need to find and download the voicepack files for that airline.

Craig.

I also noticed that when you update your voicepack, you must click the save button after updating. Even then you might be unable to choose it in FS so write the callsign in the airlines.txt in your Aircraft folder.

It might be that COMAIR is just not included in the voicepack so you'll have to download it separately.

Thanks for your help guys. Now I just need to find a Comair voicepack, which I cannot seem to find after raking through the major sites (Project AI, AVsim, Flightsim.com). I found a Delta Connection pack, I'll just have to use that for a while.

Ok, sorry for all of the posts, but in EditVoicePack, you can see the FS library of sounds, and Comair is already in there and works perfectly. Why won't ATC say it?

You shouldn't have to use the voicepack to get Comair. Comair is in FS, I have a Comair CRJ, and the controller says Comair!

That's why I am confused.

Here are a few of the flight plans:

AC#196,Comair,50%,24Hr,IFR,00:00:00,00:27:08,210,F,5749,KIND,00:59:46,01:26:54,210,F,5750,KCVG
AC#196,Comair,50%,24Hr,IFR,00:04:45,00:31:53,210,F,5750,KIND,01:04:52,01:32:00,210,F,5751,KCVG
AC#196,Comair,50%,24Hr,IFR,00:39:44,01:06:52,210,F,5752,KIND,01:39:51,02:06:59,210,F,5753,KCVG

AC#196,Comair,50%,24Hr,IFR,00:09:51,00:38:58,230,F,5161,KCMH,01:19:59,01:49:06,230,F,5162,KCVG
AC#196,Comair,50%,24Hr,IFR,00:49:45,01:18:52,230,F,5164,KCMH,01:59:53,02:29:00,230,F,5165,KCVG
AC#196,Comair,50%,24Hr,IFR,01:34:45,02:00:02,230,F,5659,KSDF,02:44:53,03:10:10,230,F,5660,KCVG
AC#196,COMAIR,50%,24Hr,IFR,02:34:52,03:06:38,270,F,5168,KFWA,04:09:58,04:41:44,270,F,5169,KCVG
AC#196,COMAIR,50%,24Hr,IFR,03:49:45,04:21:31,270,F,5775,KFWA,05:29:46,06:01:32,270,F,5776,KCVG

And the aircraft.cfg

[fltsim.4]
title=AI), USA - California">PAI CRJ2 COM
sim=paicrj200v6
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=COM
kb_checklists=

atc_airline=Comair
atc_flight_number=

ui_manufacturer=Project AI
ui_type=CANADAIR REGIONAL JET CRJ200
ui_variation=Comair
atc_heavy=0

I don't see why it wouldn't work, I know COMAIR is in the library, maybe it's the AI), USA - California">PAI model?

AC#196,COMAIR,50%,24Hr,IFR,03:49:45,04:21:31,270,F,5775,KFWA,05:29:46,06:01:32,270,F,5776,KCVG

This shouldn't say COMAIR, it should be a registration like

AC#196,N38264,50%,24Hr,IFR,03:49:45,04:21:31,270,F,5775,KFWA,05:29:46,06:01:32,270,F,5776,KCVG

OK, I added random reg #'s. Now it says "November XXXX".

From the Ttools manual:

atc_airline=Orbit
If this is specified in the aircraft.cfg file then the AI aircraft will normally use the airline name as part of its call sign along with the flight number specified in the flight plan, for example "Orbit 3401". AI flight plans cannot change the airline, but if the "F or R" flag is set to ‘R’ in a flight plan then the airline will use the registration for its call sign, for example "N29696", and the airline name and flight numbers will be ignored. If the aircraft model does not specify an ‘atc_airline’ then the AI aircraft will use the registration call sign regardless of the ‘F or R’ setting.

F or R
‘F’ in this field specifies that if the aircraft is associated with an airline then the airline name and flight number are to be used for an ATC call sign (e.g. "Landmark 1213"). ‘R’ forces the aircraft registration (tail number) to be used as a call sign even for airlines. All stock flight plans use the ‘F’ setting to allow airline flight number call signs.

How would I know if the aircraft model specifies an "atc_airline?" I'm using F to associate the aircraft with an airline callsign, but it sounds like the model does not specify this 'atc_airline' and it reverts to what I enter into the registration field. Any tips on editing a .mdl file?
