Trip To Riat 2004

Tue Apr 13, 2004 3:21 am

Hi!
I am planning the trip to the RIAT 2004 in Fairford and I would need help in the arranging of the trip. I'm traveling from Finland to UK so I need to know next things:
1. Easiest way to travel from London or Birmingham to Fairford
2. Is an accommodation (Hotel etc.) available from near the air show & can you recommend something?

I am very grateful for the answers.

Marko

PS. Is anybody from Finland leaving to the same air show?

Hi Marko.

I live a 20min drive from FFD  Smile Ermm the easiest way would probably be to get the bus from London to Oxford, then hmmm i dunno really. I'm sure if you phone up the people organising the show by finding a number on http://www.airtattoo.com/AirTattoo/showcontent.asp?PageType=home then you could find out about bus services.

Accomodation. ALL the Bed and Breakfasts in Fairford are usually completely full in that weekend, so i'd recommend one of those.

Cheers

Henry

High Flight donates profits to the RIAT Flying Scholarships for the Disabled
In liaison with the British Airways pilots' charity 'High Flight', all
profits will be donated to the RIAT Flying Scholarships for the Disabled
(FSD). The FSD was set up in 1983 in memory of the famous 'tin legged' World
War II fighter ace and RIAT founding president, Group Captain Sir Douglas
Bader, under the Royal Patronage of HM King Hussein of Jordan. Since the
King's death, his widow HM Queen Noor has carried on her husband's work.
More than 200 disabled men and women have on their pilot's 'wings' and now
face the world with newly restored confidence.

In addition to the amount raised for FSDs by the special flights, High
Flight raised a further £16,000 in 2003 from BA flight deck crews to fund
two FSD scholarships. An additional £4,700 worth of donations towards Flying
Scholarships for the Disabled was generated by Royal Air Force Benevolent
Fund Enterprises (RAFBFE) in 2003.

A further £100,000 was received by Flying Scholarships for the Disabled, the
proceeds from last September's Jersey Ball, which RAFBFE helped organise.
Among those who attended the event were His Excellency Air Chief Marshal Sir
John Cheshire, Sir Norman Wisdom, Gorden Kaye, former F1 racing driver Derek
Warwick and Lady Butlin.
