History Of Airplane Model Shops

Thu Apr 15, 2004 4:21 am

In my business fundimentals class, we have started a project where we choose a small business to open. Now what I have decided to do is go with starting a small business that sells airplane models. One of the rubics include the history of the business, so I looked all over the net, but could find nothing on it. If anyone can help me with when the first one opened and where it opened. Also, does anyone one know if there are any airplane model shops located in Denver and the metro area?

Thank you for your time and responses.

Yanksn4,

Could you look outside of the Denver area? If so, there are a few places to consider. A store that specialized ONLY in airplane models is a very rare thing. One that specializes in just commercial models is especially rare.

Suggest that you make it very clear to these people that you are not getting into the business and it is strictly for a class project. They'll be more likely to share information with you, then.

Here are my suggestions:

Just Plane Crazy - Miami, FL
(305) 477-7163

Atlantic Models - Miami, FL
(305) 883-1545

Tally Ho Models - Miami, FL
(305) 871-4650

ORD Chicago - Chicago, IL
(773) 601-8200

The Airplane Shop - Fairfield, NJ www.airplaneshop.com
(800) 752-6346

I hope this helps!

Thank you Concord977 for the list, but I kind of need shops that are in the Denver metro area or the state of colorado. Now if you didn't read all of my beginning post, I just want to repeat that this is for a CLASS PROJECT and I am not looking into really opening a shop to compete against anyone else.
